Your Morning Sift

Good morning.

The SFDB Weekend Widget is up and running in the right sidebar so make sure you check it out right after you click through this morning's Sift.

A- Matt Meltzer at Miami Beach 411 shares 25 sadly funny, but true, things you must know before deciding to move to Miami.
2. You have to drive like a maniac to survive – Everyone in Miami knows the slowest way to get from Point A to Point B is by following all the traffic laws.
B- Carlos Miller claims that alleged abuses by a Metrorail security company are being ignored by the media.
The two stations that reported on the latest incident, WSNV and WPLG, didn’t bother mentioning the name of the security company that receives millions of dollars in tax dollars a year to protect our trains from evildoers.

In fact, they didn’t even bother mentioning the name of the 50 State security guard who was caught on a cell phone camera dragging the woman out of the train for singing hymns, even though at one point in the video, passengers demand to know his name.

Both stations conveniently cut away from the cell phone video before the guard could answer, if he ever did. And I couldn’t find the video on Youtube during a cursory search.
C- Get ready some weekend theater with South Florida Theatre Scene's weekend round up.

D- Hello, I'm Scott shares some observations from his days in Costa Rica.
8) Oh. The food. Oh my god, the food. $5 on the high end for a full plate of food at any number of “sodas” or these little restaurants. Which are typically a handful of picnic tables and chairs and a short menu (if one exists at all beyond a whiteboard or some pictures). I stopped by one this afternoon on the way home from the beach and…. my god, it was soooo good!! Nothing fancy. Rice, beans, meat and onions in a sauce, tomato, lettuce, orange, cooked plantains, a drink. Just every single bite was rich and delicious and yum. And the size? It’s pretty much 2+ days worth of food for me.
E- Eye on Miami posts one of their signature videos.

Thanks for recognizing this video Rick. It took me about 6 hour to make as I had to watch a commission video to find the material and then (harder) try to translate a very complex issue and some very subtle behavior into an understandable form for the masses. Most popular posts take an hour -- can't figure people out. The good ones get passes over much of the time.
