The Cooler










Here's your interesting news for this morning. Strangely, it all comes from the television news outlets.

A- CBS4: Consumer Reports best cars for 2013.

B- NBC Miami: Who needs a firearm?
Baillargon, a veteran of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, showed NBC 6 how he fought off Smith's attack, then sprayed him in the face with window cleaner.

“I look at him and I said I have to grab his eyes with the Windex,” Baillargon said.

He said he spritzed Smith with the Windex twice, then deflected Smith’s arm with his own – knocking the crowbar out of his hand.
C- NBC Miami: Brickell restaurant gets rid of servers.
Hamburgers and hot dogs are on the grill and the orders are are rolling in at D Dog House in Brickell, but a server isn't the one taking them. You take your own order with an iPad. They're installed at every booth.

When you're not ordering food, you can surf the Internet, play games, and even take pictures. At one booth, thousands have already done that since the restaurant opened in May.
D- NBC Miami: Thirsty in Hialeah.
Residents of the condo complex on West 81st Street have complained about sand in the water coming out of their shower heads, bathroom and kitchen sinks. Apartment dwellers have resorted to using bottled water for cooking.

"The sand is supposedly coming in all the faucets, drains, toilets, everything is getting clogged up," said Merci Gonzalez.

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Broward Sheriff's Office released surveillance video of two men robbing a group of people playing dominoes.

The robbery happened at the DN Consultants office at 6041 Kimberly Boulevard about 7:30 p.m. Jan. 12.

Video showed the two men walk inside the building, police say. Once inside, the robbers point their guns at the group of about 15 people and take their purses, wallets, electronics, and cash before running out.
