Happy 5th birthday, SFDB.
That's 35 in dog years.
That's how long it feels like I've been doing this sometimes. Last week I was pretty much at my wit's end and came so close to bagging the whole thing. The blogosphere has changed. "Blogging" has come to incorporate promoting and selling and endorsing and has become just another social media platform. There are some old school bloggers left, but I find the energy and focus lacking a lot of times.
And I've changed over the 5 years.
The goals I had for this blog, while still there, feel less obtainable. I've become perhaps a little too cynical about the whole thing and sometimes it shows in my writing.
But we're going to keep motoring on. With any luck at all, we'll be talking about 6 years this time next year.
Here are the stats...
- 10,917 posts

To quote the immortal Jed Bartlet, "What's next?"
As long as you keep writing, you'll always have fans. But those fans will understand any decision you make on the fate of SFDB. LONG time lurker here.
Can't say I blame you. This takes a lot of effort and time if you are going to do it right and you do. Sometimes you just need a vacation. If I had to do it alone - I wouldn't/couldn't.
Thank you for your hard work, i enjoy your blog every day. Please keep it up.
I for one appreciate your work, insight, daily news, events and blog updates. SFDB is my first read of the morning. Thanks and continued success.
Oh, I almost forgot..happy birthday SFDB!
Happy-Happy 5th! Rick you have been and still are the model that most look to in SFL when trying to establish an online presence. Multiple posts daily without fail; SFDB defines well-oiled machine. You have built a tremendous platform and a set of standards, that puts you in a league of your own. Thank you for all you do.
You are appreciated. Thank you.
Happy birthday, SFDB! The blogosphere wouldn't be the same without YOU. Just focus on the stuff you like. I know what you mean about things being so promotional these days. But there's still some very good editorial out there. Carry on and thanks for what you do!
