Your Morning Sift

Good morning.

Things were popping in the South Florida blogosphere last night which means this morning I have a decent morning Sift for you. Enjoy.

A- Phin Phanatic takes a look at the playoff games this weekend.

B- The 2012 Miami Shores real estate market gets reviewed by Miamism.
Miami Shores has already recuperated and numbers have been showing an upward trend in increasing home values for over a year already. If you bought at the height of the market, you may still be under water, and prices are not increasing at the crazy rates they were a few years ago, but with the right marketing and home preparation, you will come out on top.
C- Gun Free Zone rationally breaks down a proposal to line our school rooms and desks with Kevlar.
I checked a manufacturer on-line and they offer a Level III-A, 6×6 blanket for $ 2,480. Just covering the wall of a classroom that faces the hallway would require 5 blankets (30 foot wall) at $12,400. Multiply that for the number of classrooms in a school…… you get the idea. And don’t forget to add the ballistic doors while you are at it; I don’t want to know how higher the bill would go.
D- A Mom, a Blog, and the Life In-Between updates us on her pregnancy.

E- Some Democrats just might take the Republicans up on their threat to shut down the government, according to Bark Bark Woof Woof.
Fox News will blame the president for being intractable, the Villagers will say Both Sides Do It, but if the Democrats stick to their no-negotiations-with-terrorists stand, they’ll win and the GOP will be marginalized even more.
F- Eye on Miami is fed up with the corruption on Miami Beach and wonders if everyone else is, too.
I believe that the attitude of corruption, the willingness to steal, the complicity that comes from turning a blind eye can be changed but for that change to happen we all have to stop being party to the madness. We have to stop shrugging our shoulders. We have to demand accountability from everyone INCLUDING THE RESIDENTS for we are party to it all when we are complacent.

F -- The only solution to corruption on Miami Beach is......MORE corruption. If corruption is outlawed, only outlaws will be corrupt.
