I apologize for getting this one to you a little later than usual. I suppose I'm just delaying the end of a great weekend. Here's your evening Sift.
A- Expect to see more photos at Food for Thought.
Here's the deal: they give me a Sony NEX-5R camera to shoot pictures around South Florida; I tell you about it; after a few weeks, a portfolio of the pictures goes up at a local Sony Store, which you can go visit and check out; and, yes, I get to keep the camera, a pretty nifty looking job with a compact frame but DSLR features and interchangeable lenses.B- Citrus!...at Go Hydrology!
C- There's an interesting "Then and Now" feature up at The305.Com.
D- Fatgirl Hedonist has the sushi place for casual diners in Miami Lakes.
On the exterior (and interior) this place isn't the most luxurious sushi restaurant in town, but the food is fresh, honest and delicious. Along with sushi, you'll also see tempura veggies, shrimp and the occasional dumpling float along from the kitchen. This is the type of place you hit up when you want sushi close to home, in a relaxed environment and don't feel like dressing up for dinner. I've yet to be terribly disappointed at this restaurant and realize the trick is to sit close to the sushi chef to get the freshest of the fresh.E- While hardliners are busy mocking the Cuban-American poet who is set to participate in the upcoming Presidential Inauguration, The Cuban Triangle presents a splendid example of his work.
F- Eye on Miami has high hopes for a new Miami-Dade County Commissioner.
Commissioner Zapata has a vision for his district. He appears to really want to make a difference. To mention one thing he supports: To increase the tree canopy in his West Miami Dade District. He has already taken steps to meet with arborists to accomplish this.
