This is, at its core, the gun nuts’ central tenet. Not that governments generically shouldn’t be trusted. But that our government in particular is evil and must be stopped at all costs. It’s philosophical terrorism that far too often leads to the real thing, whether it’s a shot-up movie theater by a guy dressed like Rambo, or a blown up federal building. It far too often comes down to the individual in question thinking they are the last defense against tyranny.
The problem we face as a nation is that the men who control today’s Republican party neither trust, nor particularly like, most of America, or Americans. If you truly see a commie and a Nazi around every corner, then you’re obviously not very thrilled with where you live.
The Republicans don’t have a problem with Obama, they have a problem with America.

How convenient that Rick decided not to include the title of Aravosis' article,
"Gun nuts think Obama is like Hitler because they don’t like America"
How short memories are. Rampant comparisons between Bush and Hitler were spread by the left during his presidency. For those with short term memories like Rick, a simple Google search will help refresh your memories:
https://www.google.com/#hl=en&tbo=d&sclient=psy-ab&q=bush+compared+to+hitler&oq=bush+compared+to+hitler
Now, interestingly, when the left compared Bush to Hitler, they said it was because they loved America.
Thanks for serving up the softball Rick. Blame the home run I just smacked out of the park on your moveon.org handlers...it's so hard for propagandists to get good help nowadays ain't it?
You caught me, JM. I was trying to hide the fact that some Democrats called Bush "Hitler" 5 years ago thus rendering John's point that Republican gun nuts have a real problem with America and Americans today totally and hopelessly moot.
Good job. Man, am I embarrassed.
*knock knock knock*
Wait. Did you hear that, JM?
It's Obama.
He's come for your guns, dude.
It's time.
Let's roll!

I'm not sure which is more pathetic -- JM's consistent demonstration of his incapacity to process information and reason, or his ego-deficient need to congratulate himself each time he displays his own failure. Talk about "softballs."
Squathole-"off-topic comments are not tolerated at SFDB" I am not the topic. The topic is whether hurling Nazi rhetoric at an administration means the hurler hates America. Apparently, such hurling meant loving America under Bush, but hating America under Obama. How convenient.
JM...yes, there were comparisons of Bush to Hitler. And most of these people were laughed at or made fun of by fellow Democrats or Liberals. A MoveOn.org founder actually apologized for their comparison and I distinctly remember folks citing Godwin's Law in jest.
Compare that to today where there is no apologizing and folks like yourself [of all people, amazingly] actually defend the use of such comparisons.
In addition, there is regular talk of revolution and folks taking action if the President doesn't do the things that these heavily armed and radicalized right wingers feel he should be doing.
If you get a minute, read this NY Times article about Tim McVeigh, especially the last section where he moved into the realm of militancy. There's a lot of parallels to the rhetoric I'm reading these days from the pro-gun side, some of it right here in South Florida. Of course, most of it is just a bunch of BS shot off by guys who talk big on the internet, but still...
There's a big difference between those talking about Bush and those talking about Obama. But you don't have to believe me. Just watch the next 3 to 4 years.
