Good morning.
So it's Thursday morning and the SFDB Weekend Widget is up and running in the right sidebar as usual. This weekend is a little different from others but I made no effort to keep up with the Art Basel madness, so what you'll see in the widget is as many non-Basel events as I could find floating around the blogosphere...with a couple exceptions. Arterpillar's guide to Art Basel is, in my opinion, the best guide to the event available not only because it has links to all the other guides but it also focuses on local artists who are exhibiting here all year. In addition, Soul of Miami is a repository for virtually everything going on during the next 4 days. Make sure you check them out if you have any plans to venture into the action this weekend. And with that, let's get to your morning Sift.
A- Further proof this morning from Bark Bark Woof Woof that all Republicans have left is faux outrage.
B- Beached Miami posts some Instapix selections from this week.
C- Out of all the art available at Art Basel, Artlurker deems a single exhibit worthwhile.
On the main land, not so far from the maddening crowd at a little place called Merc’s Studio (299 NW 36 Street, 33127), you will – if my source is reliable – find a large shipping crate. A collaborative, ostensibly predictable mock exhibition space with a difference… the art won’t be ready for nine months, if at all. Catch it Friday 6pm-12 am, Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evening.
