Your Evening Sift

So I'm back in South Florida. I have the day off tomorrow so things will be back to normal...sorta. In the meantime, here's a solid evening Sift for you.

A- On the third day of Bourbon Christmas Blind Tastes recommends...

B- Beached Miami reviews the Borscht Film Festival.
While it had its rough patches — films that need polishing, fleshing out, etc. — overall it came together like one long cinematic epic, complete with all of the absurd elements I’ve mentioned so far in this review and so much more, including an underground fight club in the Design District where a man in a leather horse-face mask sodomizes his defeated opponent, an animated short starring (against his lawyers’ wishes) Miami Heat center Chris Bosh as the savior of our galaxy (this one is a work of a pure genius even though it makes #PostModem look intelligible), and let’s not forget an exploding piggy bank with pork sausages inside of it.
C- Random Pixels has the truly moving opening from SNL last night.

D- On Two Shores links to an Al-Jazeera documentary on human rights abuses in Cuba.

E- Sex and the Beach heads to Captiva and tells us about a [partially sponsored] trip on the island.

F- South Florida Food and Wine spends some time with the Executive Chef at the Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa.
South Florida Food and Wine: You have a very big job as Executive Chef of the Jupiter Beach Resort overseeing all the food and beverage outlets; how do you manage it all?
Ricky Gopeesingh: We have a great staff here at the resort, from our Sous Chefs, line cooks and stewarding staff we all work as a team with everyone knowing there roles. We are only as strong as our weakest link hence one of my primary roles is to ensure that we have all the tools, product and staff to accomplish our culinary goals. An ability to teach and effectively communicate with staff members can never be underestimated for it is paramount in ensuring that the product we produce is consistent at all times. Our professional work environment always guarantees that the clients are being well taken care off for we are only as good as the last plate produced.
G- Who suffers when assault weapons are banned, asks Eye on Miami.
Much better for Congress to pass a ban on assault weapons and let Americans ponder what candidates are likely to deal in a common sense way with even greater probabilities and threats than those pushed forward by conservatives to advance the last war: the culture war.
