"young people committing mass murder with swords, knives, explosives or ROLLING PINS"?

To quote my all-time favorite movie line (from Owen Wilson in "Behind Enemy Lines"): You have got to be shitting me!

Some Blogging Guy, here's the deal: Adam Lanza may indeed have cracked his mother over the head with a rolling pin if he'd had no access to her firearms. But he WOULD NOT have then marched that rolling pin down the street and killed 27 more people with it, including himself.

Get a grip, dude.

It has less to do about guns (although I do agree on a ban for assault weapons) and more to do about treatment and access to care for the mentally ill. Since the annihilation of government funded, mental health care during the Reagan administration, these kinds of acts have grown exponentially. People with chronic mental illness are not getting the help and care they need to keep them and others safe. IMO, we need mental health care reform before we need a ban on assault weapons.

Someone with a severe mental illness such as Schizophrenia or Bipolar disorder with psychosis may very well try to kill 27 people with a rolling pin.

Wrong on stilts. An armed society is a polite society, and a secure one as well. The NRA is right when it wants children taught about responsible gun ownership and usage at a very early age -- like, right about the time they abandon diapers -- and provided with weapons of their own to carry constantly. They should go to school and place their weapons on their desks where they are visible and accessible. Then tragedies like this wouldn’t happen.

Think it through, candy-ass libruls. Think how much better parents would behave at little league games and soccer matches if everybody had a gun. No more speeding through school zones, either. No more confrontational parent teacher meetings.

Guns aren’t the problem, they’re the solution.

The NRA has become the Westboro Baptist Church of the gun owners, and Wayne LaPierre is their Fred Phelps.

well murders till happen even though it's illegal, then lets go ahead and make it legal. While we're at it, people still drive drunk so no more DUI! Hey , go ahead and remove stop signs and stop lights because people ignore those too. Lets fire our cops, lawyers, judges because we don't need laws because laws are just broken so what's the point of having them? We can all just carry and return to the days of the wild west.
