The holiday season has put a damper on posting activity this week in the South Florida blogosphere but last week things were still humming along. Here are the ones that I think deserve special recognition...
Runners-Up: Bark Bark Woof Woof took some time to work up the actual cost of placing armed guards in schools which was something that was suggested in the wake of the Newtown school massacre. Another great look at a local upscale restaurant was artfully composed by South Florida Food and Wine. South Florida Theatre Review did a nice job explaining why theater at the Kravis Center came to a grinding halt and kept a prominent Broadway show from taking place.
Winner: Long Play Miami continues their string of interesting and informative posts with last week's profile of Cuban rapper Yrak Saenz, who is now a Miami Shores resident. Chronicles of a Cuban Rapero is not only Saenz's story but the story of Cuban rap and the strange symbiotic relationship it has maintained with the Castro regime. As is their custom, Long Play Miami includes a subject interview in the post that is very well written and smartly imaged. It's getting a little routine, but, again, I'm happy to recognize Long Play Miami with this week's SFDB Post of the Week.
'Til next time, keep on blogging!
