Good morning.
As you might imagine, there's a lot of talk in the SoFla blogosphere. I have that for you and a few other things in this Victory Day morning Sift.
A- Some Blogging Guy announces the "Death of America" and closes his blog.
With the socialist Barrack Hussein Obama being narrowly elected for a second term as president, Some Blogging Guy is closing down. Not sure if this will be permanent or just a hiatus.B- Gun Free Zone, another right wing extremist, appears to be just as verklempt and, speaking from some alternate reality that he seems to live in, warns us of the impending storm.
I realize that the America of the last 200 years is now dead. Americans and the media are embracing socialism. It will take me some time to come to terms with this new reality.
God help us all.
Be ready to step aside and let them deal with each other. The threat will not come from us but their own creations and expectations. We will be accused as the ones creating the problem as they need an enemy to disguise their own uselessness. For that we will be ready and they will seek softer targets.C- Hello, I'm Scott shares more photos from a recent Friday night out.
D- Carlos Miller claims that he has a "surprise witness" waiting in the wings for his trial today.
We have gathered plenty of evidence in my defense, much of what I have written about here, but we will also introduce a surprise witness that will be our ace in the hole.E- Obalesque describes his voting experience from yesterday...and it ain't pretty.
It takes about 40 minutes before we get to the front door. Guido goes first. The poll attendant stops me. “You can’t come in here barefoot,” she proclaims.F- South Florida rain totals for this year's wet season are graphically illustrated at Go Hydrology!
Is that the law? Show me the statute.
G- One South Florida blog that isn't closing up or having conniptions over last night's result is Bark Bark Woof Woof.
It’s important to be magnanimous and humble in victory, but it’s also important to make it clear to those who tried to destroy Barack Obama and his party rather than just win that their style of politics and division is rejected and that they need to find another line of work. Or, to be blunt, to Karl Rove, Grover Norquist, Ralph Reed, Sheldon Adelson, the Koch Brothers, and all the rest of you evil trolls who would rather pollute America’s politics with your bile than win an election fair and square; we say get the hell out. We don’t want your shit here.H- Another is Eye on Miami.
The point is this: the pitchfork politics of the Republican Party hit the ceiling with the American electorate last night. Charles Krauthammer, on Fox, instantly offered hope that now the Republican Party would fall to the new generation of leaders, like Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio. It is a pipe dream, but a revealing one nonetheless.I- Discourse offers his perspective on last night.
The younger generation Krauthammer has faith in, was propelled forward by the same extremists – including Jeb Bush and Newt Gingrich – that could only find support among a dwindling demographic drawn to the polls by fear and loathing.
While Romney and some other Republicans tried to distance themselves from the most extreme statements about abortion, they did not repudiate the candidates or did so only briefly. And no one stepped forward on the contraception issue to say that members of their party were insane to try to turn the clock back to the 1950s or before. But the voters in at least four and perhaps six states repudiated the right-wing zealots who came through Republican primaries that skewed them further right than any time since 1964.J- Soul of Miami posts a bunch of photos from Redbull Flugtag.
