Your Morning Sift

Good morning.

Welcome to Thursday, readers, or as we say around SFDB HQ, "Amost Friday." The SFDB Weekend Widget is up and running and rather thin given it's the weekend before Art Basel. What's up with that? Here's your morning Sift.

A- Beached Miami posts their Art Basel Music Guide.

B- Self-described "campaign junkie," Political Cortadito, looks at some of the future elections happening in Miami-Dade County.
But the very next first election is almost upon us: This January (who knew?) in Golden Beach, a tiny sliver of rich folk town at the border with Broward that Ladra knows nothing about — except that she wants to live there with the other 25 or so people. Does anybody know anything? Is that even a race when the voters can all fit in a living room? Comfortably?
C- Go Hydrology! graphically displays the extremes of Florida meteorology.

D- A little bit about the Salvation Army as you head out to do your holiday shopping this year, from Bark Bark Woof Woof.
But remember one thing: the Salvation Army is not a charity. It is an evangelical church, and despite protests to the contrary, they are anti-gay and promote discrimination in their hiring practices against LGBT people. No, they do not discriminate against people who avail themselves of their services or receive help from them, but if you want to work for them, you can’t be gay.
E- Eye on Miami roots out information that those of you living near a shopping center, church or school in Miami-Dade County, might be interested in.
