Your Evening Sift

Here's your evening Sift, readers. I gotta run. There's an election to watch. Enjoy!

A- Carlos Miller goes head to head with South Florida lawyer Alan Kluger in a courtroom. Video is included, of course.
The truth is, he is the one that comes across like a caricature. A New York-born man living in Miami who wears cowboy boots with his suits, making him come across like a Jewish Joe Pesci from the movie, My Cousin Vinnie.

Except Vinnie wouldn’t spout false laws.
B- Arterpillar profiles South Florida artist NFN Kalyan and his unique art.
After completing a drawing in ink, he uses a computer-controlled laser to translate it onto about 25 layers of glass placed half an inch apart. Each one contains part of the subject's fave.
C- Salty Eggs posts some images from a few polling places around Miami-Dade County today.

D- Jeff Eats recommends a take-out Chinese restaurant on West Flagler in Miami.
Applying the world-famous Jeff Eats’ “1959 Brooklyn-Jewish Chinese Taste-Test”—wonton soup, egg rolls, bbq ribs, roast pork fried rice, general tso’s chicken, beef with broccoli, mu shu pork…Jeff Eats has to tell you, that Gourmet Gourmet is one of the better Chinese takeout joints that I’ve encountered down here in sunny South Florida.
E- Red Light restaurant is history, according to Eater Miami.
Very sad to say, but yes the rumors are true. Red Light Little River is closed for good. The hidden gem on Biscayne has gathered quite a following due to head chef Kris Wessel, who is behind the semi-open Florida Cookery. It was first said to be a temporary closing of operations for Wessel to concentrate all his efforts on the last few weeks of preparations for Cookery on South Beach. Now it looks like any hope of reopening is out of his hands.
F- DecoBikes is having some problems, says Belle Isle Blog.
The problem is that the wireless connection between the kiosks and DecoBikes HQ– the connection that enables users to pay either by credit card or their DecoBikes subscription card — hasn’t been working.

And the problem persists.
G- Check out a 1926 photo of Biscayne Boulevard under construction at The305.Com.

H- Curbed Miami also discusses South Florida history with a post on The Lincoln Hotel which once occupied space on what is now Lincoln Road in the early 1900's.
The Lincoln wasn't particularly big, but it was luxurious, and it catered to the kinds of people - wealthy, white, waspy industrialists, socialites, and celebrities (basically everyone almost good enough for Palm Beach society, but not quite) - that Fisher wanted to buy land to populate his beachside city. The hotel had rambling sun porches facing Fisher's golf course across Lincoln Road, his polo fields were a few blocks away, and his glassed in tennis courts were catty-corner, where the Albion Hotel now stands.
I- Justice Building Blog and The Reid Report logs their predictions for the night. From the former...
We're changing our prediction to Obama declared the winner on Wednesday at 12:35 Am. First- anyone foolish enough to pick a time before 11:00 PM EST, cannot win, as the polls in California do not close before then, and Obama needs the California electoral votes to put him over the top.
