Your Evening Sift

Hope you're enjoying the weekend. The SFDB Weekend Widget in the right sidebar can help in that regard, you know. In the meantime, here's your evening Sift.

A- South Florida Food and Wine tells us about November's "food, drink, travel and spa goings on" in the area.

B- On Two Shores points out the latest hypocrisy of South Florida's Cuban-American hardliner Congressional representatives.

C- Miamism Pix has a photo of some crazy, gold exotic car taken somewhere in South Florida.

D- Bark Bark Woof Woof got up super early to vote today and tells us how it went.
Finally I crossed over into the “No Campaign Zone” and twenty minutes later approached the door, and forty minutes later I actually walked into the library. At last, I thought; I’m into the home stretch. Then I saw that the line snaked up and down every aisle between the bookshelves and it would be another hour before I reached the door to the room where they kept the Holy of Holies, the actual ballots.
E- Is lying just part of the Republican personality, Discourse wonders.
Some of the right-wing spin machine are probably in it just for the money; but that’s probably the case with most long-running political movements. Some others are true believers, whether well-informed or prisoners of the self-referential epistemology that Perlstein us points to. Some of the billionaire funders may be operating on self-interest rightly understood. And some of the above are Straussians, actualizing the philosophy that the way to talk to — to lead — the masses is to lie to them. Romney doesn’t come off sounding like like a true believer, which is odd as his policies surely server his self interest. That invites us to place him in another one of the categories. Perlstein says Romney is lying because that is what his backers expect.
F- A look at yesterday's Miami-Dade early voting is presented at Eye on Miami. Comments, too.
