Your Evening Sift

And on to the weekend! Buffalo burgers are waiting to be thrown on the grill so enjoy your evening Sift and make sure you check out the SFDB Weekend Widget in the right sidebar for guidance in the next couple days.

A- You could say that Long Play Miami is excited about Lou Reed coming to town.
Reed is the coolest of street cats. Never one to chase commercial success or mainstream acceptance; he just doesn’t give a shit. Early in his music career he was too busy trying to figure himself out to worry about outsiders, and then once he did, he chose the most strange and beautiful of paths: pioneering progressive glam rock (with David Bowie producing his records in 1972), toying with ‘electronic noise’ before the digital age, composing rock operas, writing “Walk on the Wild Side” and recording the most famous of background vocals by ‘the colored girls’ – doo do doo do doo do do doo .

Indefinable. Uncategorizable. Eccentric.
B- On Two Shores likes the fact that former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz slams the Romney campaign for "election-time manipulation of the suffering of Cuban exiles."
But Romney’s spot went into truly deranged territory. It reeked of desperation, and I’m glad it got the response it deserved.
C- A large group of hardcore cyclists came out for the weather-affected Halloween Critical Mass and The Miami Bike Scene has the video.

D- Eater Miami has the nail in the coffin of what used to be 8 oz. Burger Baron Alton Road.

E- Gun Free Zone is preparing for "significant civil upheaval" related to the elections and provides some guidance for "keeping critters" away. Knowing Gun Free Zone and the fact that he's a 20%'er, those "critters" would be upset Democrats.
Hurricane Preparedness rules apply. Just in case, at least 7 day of basic items and I truly recommend it is time to obtain that long gun you always wanted. Keeping critters as far away as possible is always a good idea.
F- Zaza's looks like it serves up some fine looking pizza on Sugarloaf Key and Florida Keys Girl confirms as much.
Zaza’s pesto was homemade, delicious and plentiful on the pizza. The only thing I would possibly change about the pesto pizza is the ricotta. There was a lot of it, but it but it made the pie a little soggy. Otherwise, the pizzas were crispy, though not overcooked, and delicious. Crusts are slightly thicker than some other places, and are the perfect balance of chewy.
G- Sex and the Beach does some fishing in Florida Bay.
After about twenty minutes cruising west, we stopped close to a mangrove with good current to cast net some bait. And then I was reminded why I love fishing the area so much; it's not just about the fish, but also about witnessing nature first-hand, away from the high-energy distractions of urban Miami.
H- Phin Phanatic previews this weekend's Dolphins-Colts game.
The Dolphins go into Indy with a great chance at a 5-3 record and a huge conference win against a potential rival for a playoff spot. Both teams are on the rise and shocking critics who deemed both organizations in the “rebuilding stage.” Many experts predicted the Dolphins and the Colts to have losing records at this point in the season, and almost no experts gave either team a chance at making the playoffs. This should make for an exciting game, especially if Tannehill is healthy and we get to see the two rookie quarterbacks gun it out.
I- Soul of Miami has November's line up at the Van Dyke Upstairs.

J- Blogging Black Miami reports on voter enthusiasm in Daytona Beach.

K- Another great post on early voting in Miami-Dade County by Eye on Miami...photos and videos included. Some good comments, too.
