SFDB Question Of The Day

The holiday season is upon us and on Thursday we'll feast on a large bird. Well, some of us will. I will be hanging out with some relatives from the Buckeye State and eating pizza with a couple who is celebrating their new home purchase in Fort Lauderdale. We may even use unopened boxes as tables. How's that for blowing your traditional Thanksgiving dinner into the stratosphere? So...

How will you be spending your Thanksgiving Day?

Last time I did a Question of the Day, I got skunked or close to it. Don't be shy, readers. Give it up and share your plans for this year's Turkey Day in the comments.

Ok, I'll bite. I'll be enjoying the day off. Probably sleeping in until 9am, getting some work done at the homestead, then maybe heading to a buddy's place for football. I really am not that into turkey or most heavy, starchy, Thanksgiving dishes. Just give me some whiskey and football and I'm happy.

Thanks, Steve. I never thought of you as "low maintenance" but this comment has given me new hope.

I'll be sleeping in, doing some non-blog writing (after my usual posts are done), and then going to a friend's house for the Big Eat with other guests. My contribution will be an apple pie and ice cream for dessert.

In keeping with my family tradition, the dinner does not start until after the Lions lose. I have many years' worth of memories of shivering in the bleacher section of Tiger Stadium on Thanksgiving only to drive back to Toledo in silence.

My Cuban-American family doesn't do football, so we'll we dealing with the usual family feuding drama LOL ... if I get to eat turkey instead of pork, I'll be happy.

We're playing host, as usual, but the guest list is 'way down thanks in part to Guido's broken arm. I get to wear the sous-chef hat this year -- cleaning, cutting, prepping, as well as bartending. This year I voweto remember to eat, too.

have 4 or 5 invites and instead of driving around, gorging and socializing (which I need a break from after 2 diff sunday night BBQs in my yard) I will be taking a doberman and a 20 pound poodle and a friend and her shitzhu and some chairs and some drinks and nuts and chips alongside the rickenbacker causeway and just chill. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Heading over to Tampa for a family Thanksgiving. We'll see if I survive a close encounter with my rabidly republican BIL and father.

@Rick - I'm about as low maintenance as they come, buddy boy. Enjoy your turkey.

@Bobby - I have Stafford as my QB for fantasy football. Need a big game but probably will be riding home in silence...

Having a very representative of the 21st century Miami Thanksgiving dinner, WASPS, Cuban Rafters, some born and raised in Miami, immigrants from Poland, India, gay, straight...15 sitting down to a traditional dinner ( ok the Turkey IS free range ) ..we are the 21st century!
