Well, it's Friday night and the mood is right. Let's get into a Friday evening Sift that's long enough to make me think that almost everyone out there decided to write something today. Time to fire up the grill. Enjoy your evening.
A- Searching for Signs says that individuals and organizations who are against same-sex marriage should be scared of the future.
This attitude is lurching our society closer and closer to a very disturbing period – one in which a redefinition of marriage will lead to unjust discrimination and marginalization of traditional marriage supporters. It doesn’t matter if equating gay marriage rights to basic civil rights is total bunk. Once the powers-that-be buy into that mindset, it’s only a matter of time before individuals and organizations start being punished and ostracized for their beliefs.B- The Miami Herald looks like it's trying to pull a fast one on their subscribers, but Random Pixels is there to shine some light on the scheme.
C- Searching For Normalcy is moving!
Anyway, there are some big changes coming up for the boy and me. We have decided to relocate to the beautiful state of Washington! That included purchasing a brand new home that was built from the ground up.D- Could Republicans be bigger cry babies? After reading the latest at Bark Bark Woof Woof, I don't think so.
E- Eye on Miami wants to make sure that folks understand the new Miami-Dade County law regarding absentee ballot voting that they were so much a part of.
The voter should have to sign the Affidavit so the ballot broker would have to have it in hand with the ballot. Otherwise the broker caught red-handed could lie and say she/he is going to write it later.F- Obalesque is already planning an additional kitty litter run.
I point out that the beast she just brought into our happy home is Number 7 — and it’s a black cat on the night of a full moon. I’m not superstitious and suffer no Wiccan tendencies, but even this configuration makes me uneasy.G- Go Hydrology! has more evidence that the swamp is low on water.
H- Under the Sun posts another Hurricane Andrew story.
I- There's a new restaurant at the Blue Moon Hotel on South Beach called FIX, says Eater Miami.
The breakfast menu might be the highlight, serving up a whole days worth of pork belly benedicts, rock shrimp & stone crab omelets, cuban paninis and Rice Krispie-crusted French toast.J- Roy Black pens a depressing piece on police misconduct.
Last week I met with a former White House official and we discussed our amazement how Americans are so trustful of authority. We believe what our government tells us, unlike so many countries in the world where they are highly skeptical of authority. In the US, if the FBI shows up at our door we invite them in for coffee. In the rest of the world when the state police knock on their door they hide their women and children.

A - "Traditional marriage" has been "redefined" since the Old Testament blessed the idea of one man and as many women as he could afford, and as recently as 1967 with Loving v. Virginia that said banning interracial marriage was unconstitutional, so that point is both moot and narrow-minded.
As for "it’s only a matter of time before individuals and organizations start being punished and ostracized for their beliefs," it's a little late: we who believe in marriage equality and the religious denominations who support us have been punished and ostracized for our beliefs for centuries.
