Wayne Boich Jr., billionaire party boy son of a coal mining dynasty, is certainly having fun with his inherited money. He's purchased three adjoining North Bay Road houses (4666, 4682, 4700) for $19.6 million with plans to knock them down and construct a luxurious and laboriously huge bachelor pad in their place. He'll have a roomy 53,000 square feet of land, and an unheard of 300 linear feet of bayfront.

B- Culture Designers comments on Miami's cameo on The Travel Channel last night.

D- Beached Miami does the Q&A thing with South Florida artist Catalina Jaramillo.

Featuring scores of performance and installation artists from 10 countries, the first Miami Performance International Festival kicks off on Thursday and runs through Sunday, when the Miami Beach Botanical Garden will host an all-day program of artist talks, readings, and live action performances. One of the participants, Colombia-born, Miami-based artist Catalina Jaramillo, will be preparing a free meal for 400 people for a performance called The Picnic.

E- Transit Miami maintains that allowing cyclists to coast through certain controlled intersections is something they can get behind.

I’ve long contended that if a person on a bicycle is expected to come to a full stop at every single intersection no matter the circumstances, it’s the equivalent of a car driver putting their vehicle into ‘park’ and turning off the ignition before continuing through.

Regarding guns, the Republicans seem very committed to the idea that society can only be better, more peaceful, and less violent if everyone was armed. The more guns the better. There are hundreds of millions in guns in the United States and the death rate from homicide by firearm is roughly almost 4 per 100,000 people while in Canada, The United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Norwa, Greece, Poland, Hong Kong, Chile, South Korea, and Japan the death rate is always less than 1 per 100,000.

G- The Grove's iconic hotel, the Mayfair, is getting a makeover, according to Coconut Grove Grapevine.

Kenneth Trieister, the architect's original touches like Tiffany stained glass and hand-carved mahogany doors and detailed metal work are all staying. The interior of the rooms is where most work will be done. Many rooms will get brand new wood desks with faux leather desk blotters, desk lamps and power outlets for ipads, computers and such. All guest room floors will be crystallized and the Japanese soaking tubs will receive a fresh coat of paint.
