Do you seriously think stricter gun control would have prevented the Aurora massacre? If he couldn't obtain guns we could have easily built a bomb, similar to the explosives found booby-trapping his apartment. Any high school chemistry student who spends 5 hours on Wikipedia could build a good enough explosive. Should we ban wikipedia? Gun control is completely irrelevant in this case. On the flip side, if we had more lax gun control, nobody could safely draw on someone wearing full body armour in a dark movie theatre without inflicting heavy collateral. Using the Aurora shooting as a platform to further your views on gun control, whatever they are, is selfish. It is far more effective to draw attention to the need for superior mental health resources, especially in high-stress grad school environments.
