SFDB May Post Of the Month

The 14 SFDB Editors [okay, 13 of the 14] have finished their deliberations [between Miami Heat games] and have picked May's SFDB Post of the Month.

And the winner is...

Brickell Life
"The Everglades"

Simple, eloquent, powerful and memorable... any and all of these words could be used to describe Brickell Life's "The Everglades"

Let's look at how the voting went...

Here are some of The Editors' comments that they submitted after they had mulled over their choices.

Ipanemic:
Nearly impossible this time with so many superb posts in the running. I was tied between three. I had to vote for one. :( I'm not pleased with that. But I chose the post that I think highlights an aspect of life in South Florida that is most definitively South Florida.

South Florida Food and Wine:
We all know about Miami Beach, Sunny Isles and the like back in the day; I am one of the South Floridians who didn't know where the glitterati visited in Coconut Grove. Enjoyable read.

Searching for Normalcy:
I absolutely loved Brickell Life's post. I found myself completely immersed in the visual writing style and virtually transported to the Glades right along with him. This story really captures the rare beauty of this serene, natural part of Florida and I loved that he called it the "real Miami." A-plus from me!

Random Pixels:
I voted for Brickell Life's "Everglades."

A journalist friend of mine told me he once worked for an editor who "had one basic rule of good writing: Show me, don’t tell me. Let me see what you see. Paint me a picture. Then, I’ll follow you anywhere."

Even out to the Everglades. Excellent piece.

Good job,  Brickell Life!
