Happy Over The Hum Day! We're now officially on the downside into the weekend. There's lots to read in your evening Sift so let's get going. Enjoy.
A- Over a dozen new photos are up at The Street.
B- Johnny's Soda Fountain & Luncheonette in Miami Springs has great ambiance, says Jeff Eats, and okay eats.
So- you know what this joint is all about, the PHARMACY still has the original 1946-look…while-Johnny’s is 1950′s faux-stuff ala Johnny Rockets. For our purposes, this is a mom & pop diner—with an interesting “story” in a really cool location.C- Transit Miami recounts the carnage on South Florida roadways this past weekend.
D- The New World Symphony and Michael Tilson Thomas closes out their year doing Mahler, according to South Florida Classical Review.
His end-of-season Mahler performances with the New World Symphony, which will continue next year with the Fourth Symphony, have become highlights of the year, giving South Florida audiences the chance to hear intense, focused performances by one of the world’s leading living Mahler interpreters. Although both Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon performances are likely to sell out, the Saturday concert will be projected live on the hall’s viewing wall, allowing anyone in the adjacent park to watch and listen for free.E- April's Critical Mass photos and videos can be found at The Miami Bike Scene.
F- The new Miami Marlins stadium is a true Miami experience declares Miami Beach 411.
The new Marlins Ballpark is truly an “only in Miami” experience. It does more than just try to perpetuate the Miami image of beauty, sex, and parties. It gives you a taste of what it’s like to live here, greasy pork smoke and all. That way when you leave, and walk back through Little Havana to your car, you may understand a little better the people who sold you a spot on their lawn. And even moreso, the city they call home.G- While reading South Florida Lawyer's latest post, you might be amazed at the millions of dollars that are routinely thrown around in South Florida.
H- Florida Key's Girl premieres her new video series, Three Loud Women.
I have mentioned 3 Loud Women, the hip, new lifestyle show, appearing on You Tube. Well, folks, today is the day. We go live. Well, not live, per se – the video has been recorded – but we will air our first episode. Be sure to check it out and leave a comment on the Facebook page.I- Coconut Grove Grapevine tells us about the famous Grove house that's for sale.
The Gabor sisters, Errol Flynn, Ernest Hemingway, Nat King Cole, John Wayne, Debbie Reynolds, Ava Gardner, Raquel Welch, it seemed that everyone who was well-known, visited Sepy's house. If the walls could talk! I visited in the early 1980s, when I would stop by with a friend, Franco, who did business with Sepy. I was in awe of the house and I would always picture the ghosts of the past who passed through those doors.J- Tongue firmly in cheek, at Eye on Miami.
We suggest an avenue of inquiry for beleaguered commissioners: why are there so few natural breasts left in Miami. When a major revenue source for the county, TV production, could be shut down it is time for intervention. The county commission can see this issue (too many breast implants in Miami) properly lifted up and out to generate popular enthusiasm for a sagging institution.

WTF is up with The Street? I don't get it. All women with bad skin and severely plucked eyebrows (which screams meth use/abuse). The dates in the blog (is it a blog?) are misleading at best, since the same photos of the very same women are posted multiple times. Whatever, I don't get the point, except that maybe I'm being invited to sit in judgment of what appear to be desperate and down-on-their-luck women who I know zero about. Why only women? Where did these photos originate -- from one place or many? Why should we ponder the notion that women who look like these women exist everywhere? (They don't -- as anyone who's lived somewhere other than this South Florida petri dish of fevered oodge could verify.) I'd actually stopped looking at the mugshots on that site because the whole enterprise sorta makes me feel sick -- I don't want to be a voyeur to the sadness and destruction folks cause themselves, and certainly I'm not interested in whatever schadenfreude or entertainment value is being offered in those rolls of photos. What I am interested in is hearing what other folks here think -- am I missing something? What are your thoughts, Rick, and what takes do some of your faithful readers have on that?
I stopped looking too. I don't get it either.
I would suggest it might be useful for one of those 10th grade scared straight type of programs though.
