SFDB February Post Of The Month: The Nominees

Presenting the nominees for the February SFDB Post of the Month.

Nominee #1:"I Was Arrested Covering The Occupy Miami Eviction"

Carlos Miller chalks up another arrest and naturally captures it all on film.

Nominee #2: "Biking the Markham Park Levee"

South Florida Guy tells us about a bike ride along a Broward County levee that I doubt many people even knew was out there.

Nominee #3: "Trust No One"

Mike LaMonica took the time out of his day to share a beer with a homeless man he met while filling up his car on U.S. 1 in South Miami. The resulting post provided us with a wonderful profile of "Vanny" and the accompanying photos are priceless. It's a memorable and unique missive.

Nominee #4: "Everglades’ Best Friend: EcoDogs Can Help Abate Python Problem"

Salty Eggs tells us about an innovative program to combat the proliferation of pythons out in the Everglades that, unfortunately, probably won't be implemented any time soon. The post was an interesting and well-researched read that described how dogs have been trained to hunt pythons in the swamp. Who knew?

Nominee #5: "County, BPAC Propose Immediate Improvements for Rickenbacker Causeway"

Transit Miami covered the Miami-Dade Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) meeting and provided an excellent review and synopsis of the ideas discussed and the safety proposals that were offered up to address the dangerous situation on the Rickenbacker Causeway. With cyclists continuing to be jeopardized and killed on South Florida roads, the informative post generated a lot of interest and a good comment thread that stretched to almost 30 strong.

So there are your nominees. SFDB's prestigious panel of 14 Editors will lose countless hours of sleep reviewing the nominated posts in order to select their choice for the SFDB February Post of the Month. This month's deadline for voting is going to be Wednesday, March 14th at 5:00 PM. The results should be announced here next Friday.

As always, feel free to add your own thoughts about the nominated posts in the comments below.
