Good morning.
You might notice that some of your favorite websites are off line today. Here's why. Enjoy your morning Sift.
A- Go Hydrology! compares the last few Florida dry seasons and there are graphs included.
Each in its own way has been extreme, either on the wet or dry side. For each year, however, timing of rain, or lack thereof, has been just as influential as amount.B- Obalesque makes me laugh about a not-so-laughable subject.
He snaps his rubber gloves and motions toward the table. I drop trou and bend over. What a job this poor man has chosen for himself. He runs his right arm in up to the elbow, then shoulder. You think I exaggerate? When he’s done he tells me my prostate feels fine, but I should have my top left molar checked out.C- Culture Designers shares a brief wrap up of the Miami International Art Fair.
D- Bark Bark Woof Woof explains how the Republican Party is dipping into well worn strategies of the past to energize their base that have worked so well in the past.
Mr. Wallace knew how to whip up a crowd, tempering his rhetoric slightly so that he didn't come right out and use the n-word, but you knew who he was talking about when he railed against the welfare queens in their Cadillacs and strong young men who bought t-bone steaks with their food stamps. His slogan of "Stand Up For America" left little doubt who he was standing up against, and the Republican Party knew it too. When Richard Nixon ran on the Southern Strategy, he was ripping off George Wallace, and Ronald Reagan followed along, putting the nice Disney polish on the ugly old formula.
