It makes total sense that if you boo gay soldiers and cheer for executions, torture and the abandonment of the uninsured, you'll naturally love the conservative crowd pleaser that Newt offers up here...
It seems as though the more repulsive and abhorrent the personality, the more attractive the candidate becomes to today's Republican Party.
It's because, at heart, it's who they are.

Rick, you are an artist. You pick and choose just as you claim I do. Only you do it better, and with far more anger and hate. I dislike radical anti-freedom liberals, but I don't hate them with the pure white hot hate you seem to have for anyone from the middle to the far right.
As a card carrying leftist, are you suppose to be tolerant of others? Or only those who agree with you?
Are you suppose to be interested in peace and community? Or again, is that only for those anti-freedom leftists that you approve of?
What part of what Newt said do you disagree with? Did the Occupy Idiots build that park? The bathrooms? Was he lying about that? Do the Occupy Idiots have a sense of liberal entitlement? I think so.
I am not a Newt fan, but I see nothing wrong with anything he said. I don't consider myself repulsive and abhorrent but I guess your Progressive Thinking means I am.
I wish that one day the hate and anger you have inside of you will fade and you realize that until liberals and conservative Americans cease the warfare and sit down together in peace to work toward our future, all we will have is warfare.
Which is exactly what the politicians want. As long as we are at each other's throats they will continue to live the good life.

Rick, indeed I do wish you a happy holiday. I keep my political views separate from others. I work for an extremely liberal employer, and found that liberals, although very confused in their politics, are actually human beings just like me! I cannot for the life of me understand their politics, but you know what? The friends I have there keep the politics out of conversation and we get along just fine. In fact, the one person who I trust more than anyone else is even more liberal than you are. But he is a good man.
So, yeah, I think your views are really messed up. But this is still America and we still are allowed to disagree on politics. That does not mean I dislike you Rick. I dislike your views, but not you. There is a huge difference.

You mock a guy with Parkinson's like your Tea Party pal in that video and I can pretty much tell you what your values are.
You boo a U.S. soldier because of his sexual orientation, I can pretty much tell you what your values are.
You cheer for torture, I think I know your values.
And if you honestly think that every OWS protestor out there is a whiny hippy who needs a bath and a job, then I can tell you exactly what side of the political spectrum you hang out on and, based on the above values, exactly what your values are.
What Republicans need to do is start growing a pair and own their views and values instead of attacking everyone who points out what kind of warped and self-centered ideology they subscribe to. No one made them clap for executions and torture. No one forced them to boo the gay soldier fighting in Afghanistan on national TV. No one even made that Tea Party guy throw dollar bills at that sick man sitting in the street.
But they did it. Because it's the kind of people that they are and it's the values that they hold.

Keep closing your eyes, ears and mouths conservatives.

I am not a Conservative. I am a Human Being, an American, a Father, a Brother, a Husband and a friend. Politics is waaaaay down the list of how I define myself.
You seem to be on some sort of Holy Quest to destroy anyone who does not think as you do. Do you really define your entire life as a left wing liberal? Is that all you are? I hope not.
Liberals hating Conservatives, Conservatives hating Liberals. You want to be part of that go at it. You will be part of the problem, not part of the solution.

It's really easy to throw out "hate" as a motive. It ends the chance for discussion and makes for an easy exit. "So there. Nyah!"
I don't speak for Rick or any other liberal other than myself, but I don't hate too many people, and I certainly don't hate anyone I don't know personally. I do, however, find great entertainment in mockery, snarkery, and needling, none of which could be confused with hatred; it's really hard to laugh at people you hate.
What I think is most telling is how much our mockery and snarkery sets off the right wingers. They can't stand being laughed at and made the butt of jokes. It infuriates and deflates them because they know that laughter -- not hatred -- is the most lethal weapon against the pompous and arrogant.

Some Blogging Guy...look, we pick our sides in life. I'll always be on the side that speaks out against people who dehumanize others and those who stand around and clap for them or pat them on their backs.
If that makes me a liberal or a progressive or a radical in your mind, then so be it.
But do me a big favor and think about your "I am a fellow Human Being and American" speech for the next time you want to paint liberals or OWS supporters or government employees or South Floridians or college workers or whatever other subgroup with your wide, angry paintbrush that you like to periodically pull out when you're not posting pictures of butterflies and flowers.
