Your Evening Sift

Happy Friday Eve, readers. The SFDB Weekend Widget in the right sidebar was updated again today. So many good things going on this Labor Day Weekend. Have fun reading your evening Sift.

A- Boy Writes Miami found himself with some time on his hands today.

B- The Heat Lightning lists some Miami art openings to tide you over until 2nd Saturday.

C- Under the Sun readers share their green flash photos from Key West and elsewhere.
Under the Sun recently ran a piece on green flashes – a green light that appears in the sky for a fleeting moment when the sun dips below the horizon. Many believe the green flash to be a myth, but it actually has a scientific explanation: refraction. We asked readers if they had ever seen a green flash. Many sent us stories and pictures of their experience with the atmospheric phenomenon.
D- Check out the this week's theater scene at South Florida Theatre Scene.

E- South Florida Lawyers critiques The Donald's latest losing win in Palm Beach.

F- Go Hydrology! announces the beginning of fall funk.
The peninsular fall funk is a well documented affliction during which the psyche of us Floridians finally starts to crack amid the unending daytime heat, nighttime humidity, increasing tropical activity and perhaps worse of all, knowing that up north our continental cousins are relishing the crisp, cool and carefree days of fall...
G- Miamism Pix captures the view of the new Marlins stadium from the Don Shula.

H- South Florida Classical Review breaks the news that Placido Domingo is coming to Miami in November but don't expect to be able to wear your best Tommy Bahama shirt to the performance.
Reservations for the “full Zarzuela Gala Evening” which includes the Luisa Fernanda performance with Domingo, three receptions, and a stage dinner dance begin at $1,500 per person. Tables for the full evening range from $15,000 to $100,000. Reservations are currently available only to Lyric Society donors of $1,500 and above.
I- Saturday night is a big night in Coconut Grove, according to Coconut Grove Grapevine.
It's the night of the yearly Pajama Pub Crawl, which is tied in with the Great Grove Bed Race, the next day. Also, it's the first Saturday of the month, so it's Gallery Walk Night. The streets should be jammed with partiers and art lovers.
J- I can't help but think of the Malcolm X quote, "A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything," when I read Radio or Not's criticism of President Obama.
