It's a rather slow news day this morning but I was still able to dig up a few interesting stories for you.

A- Herald: Big Boi arrested with boner pills and other pharmaceuticals.

OutKast member and hip-hop artist Big Boi was arrested in Miami on Sunday for possession of drugs, according to the Miami-Dade Corrections website.

The rapper, whose real name is Antwan Andre Patton, 36, but performs under the name Big Boi, was charged with three counts of possession of Ecstasy, Viagra and MDMA, an ingredient in Ecstasy. Patton did not have a prescription for the Viagra he carried. He faces a fourth count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The website says Big Boi was booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail at around 1:30 p.m. He was released on a $16,000 bond. Patton was apparently arrested as he disembarked from a cruise ship at the Port Miami, TMZ is reporting. A Customs drug sniffing dog alerted an officer to Patton.

B- Herald: Life in South Florida.

Police are questioning a 79-year-old man in the shooting of a 12-year-old boy in Fort Lauderdale.

The boy was shot on the 700 block of Northwest12th Terrace at around 5:45 pm, police say.

While the investigation continues, the shooting may have been sparked by a football game that the boy and his friends were playing on the street outside the man’s house.

C- Sun-Sentinel: Next stop: Havana.

HAVANA (Reuters) - With a calm sea before her and destiny on her mind, 61-year-old American swimmer Diana Nyad plunged into the Straits of Florida at dusk Sunday to begin what she hopes will be a world record 103-mile swim from Cuba to Florida.

MIAMI (CBS4) – Four people were wounded in a shooting outside a Miami club early Monday morning.

It happened just after 3 a.m. at a downtown club call 90 Degrees at NE 11th Street and NE 1st Avenue.

E- NBC 6: Mom: Fail.

A Davie woman faces DUI and child neglect charges after piling five children into her backseat and getting into a car accident.

Summer Christlieb, 33, confessed to "drinking a little wine" at her son's birthday party Wednesday night, according to the police report, but told arresting officers that she was driving only a short distance and thought she would be fine.
