Well...here we are at the weekend's front door. The best time of the week is right now. Hope you're enjoying it and getting ready to hit an event that's included in the SFDB Weekend Widget in the right sidebar [like how I squeezed that in?]. Enjoy your evening Sift, everyone.
A- The Heat Lightning starts us out this evening with the first part of what is apparently going to be a several post series on the writer's experience with social media...from the beginning.
Let’s start at the start, shall we? Makeoutclub and Friendster – or at least the ones I knew. Both of these websites are still around but there’s no chance I’m logging back into either of them.B- Tropic of Mom tells us her tale of managing to watch today's Space Shuttle launch.
T minus two days: I spend my day searching for a hotel room to find that everything within an hour's drive of the launchpad is booked. Oh and? I call the county parks and talk to someone there who says the parks will open at 4 am, and that's when we'd best be there if we want a spot. That means leaving our home at 1 o'clock in the morning and driving through the night.C- Here's three words I never thought I would ever say together...rare butterfly eggs...at Some Blogging Guy.
D- I suppose you could call this Beached Miami's Sketchy Party Video.
E- Even though La Baguette tries to act all Brickell, it's still in Little Havana and Boy Writes Miami says that makes its sandwiches too expensive.
The sandwiches feel a little pricey. If you get yourself a sandwich on French bread, it’s pretty large, which is acceptable for what you’re paying. However, if you decide to make the bread switch to a croissant, they charge you an extra $0.65 and cut its size down to 40%. How does that make any sense? Because a croissant is smaller than a loaf of French bread?F- Photos of the shuttle launch taken from the air are up at The305.Com.
G- The Miami Bike Scene has a few photos from last night's Loose Cannons.
Really fun race last night, Loose Cannons, typically held on the first Thursday of every month started out at Sun Cycling Center in Hialeah and ended at the Electric Pickle in Wynwood. Out of all the starting locations in the past 3 1/2 years this was possibly my favorite.H- Eye on Miami is cynically amused at the new developments in the port tunnel project.
Start chewing lime rock, Mr. Mayor and fine county commissioners. Break it into little pieces and put a little sugar on top. Stir in, spittle and a cocktail of polymers that are not permitted by law in drinking water aquifers. Ah Miami: too busy compounding zeroes to check the math.
