The Cooler

The South Florida mainstream media is still in bed this morning so not a whole lot going on out there. Enjoy.

A- Herald: Effing A-hole.
[Dade County PBA President John] Rivera said that if the 10 percent increase aimed at achieving parity between police and fire is eliminated, then fire should be cut that amount, as well.

“Firefighters get paid to sleep, we get fired if we get caught sleeping," he said.
B- Sun-Sentinel: Burning down the house.
A pattern of suspicious kitchen fires — apparently set by homeowners trying to collect insurance money — has led state investigators and insurance companies to work together to uncover the bogus claims.

[...]

State and private investigators say the problem largely can be blamed on a surge of homeowners setting their kitchens on fire so they can renovate with insurance money. Ultimately, the scheme could mean higher premiums for other policyholders.
C- Palm Beach Post: Ha!
Four months into her high-profile Democratic congressional bid, former West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel's campaign is still working on a website to outline her positions on issues. But Frankel moved with warp speed last week to create a site accusing U.S. Rep. and email flamethrower Allen West, R-Plantation, of being a misogynist.

A day after West sent his "shut the heck up you are not a Lady" email to U.S. Rep. and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston, the Frankel campaign registered the domain name WestHatesWomen.com.
D- WPTV: Life in South Florida.
PALM SPRINGS, Fla. - A Palm Springs couple has been sleeping in their car because mold has taken over their apartment.

Could anyone give the Herald more idiotic quotes than PBA's President, John Rivera? His mouth is a menace to the union he represents.
