Devastating news. I came home from Publix this morning and the TV was on in two rooms: one was the tragedy in Norway; the other some right-wing flack spouting the same talking points we've heard for thirty years and I had to scream at the TV and turn them both off. This is worse news than either. This one I take personally. I loved her talent and always hoped she'd come back and bless us with her singular gift.
Agree with the Bum. When I was blogging, I did a post about Amy and I wondered whether her ultimate legacy would be similar to someone's like Billie Holiday or if she'd ultimately just be remembered for her tabloid-fodder life.
Every time I'd hear about Amy attempting a comeback, I'd hope it was for real.
On a macabre note, someone earlier sent me a note mentioning Winehouse has joined the infamous "27 Club." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27_Club
