I do think the wet season has arrived. Next up (if you already don't have them): mosquitoes. On that pleasant note, let's get into your evening Sift. Cya Monday!
A- Let's get started this evening with Miami Beach 411's visit to Miami Velvet.
For the unaware, Miami Velvet is Miami’s Swingers club. If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically a place where couples go to have sex with other couples. Sure, there are some single guys there, and a handful of single girls. But the vast majority of the folks at Velvet are there with dates, and often there to have sex with other people.B- FTL Collective posts on the great new food truck gathering in Broward that is going to be taking place each Thursday evening...pictures from the last one are included.
This past Thursday, 19 food trucks took to a Seminole Hard Rock Casino parking lot for families and foodies to enjoy. The new event, which apparently will be weekly, ran from 5:30-10pm.C- The Marlins suck...or stink, as Obalesque would say.
There’s no question that a shortage of mature, grizzled, and scarred veterans on the squad has fed the frustration of losing, and robbed them of a perspective with which to deal with this kind of adversity.D- Carlos Miller finally files his report from the Fort Lauderdale photography protest last Friday and video is included. Meanwhile, Random Pixels is still bitchin' [but using a thesaurus!] about something or the other that pissed him off about the event or a comment or another blogger or....
E- The Street has almost two dozen new photos up and ready for review.
F- There are more yet more burgers in store for Miami, according to Eater Miami.
Over at Eater National yesterday, an interview with recent Top Chef All-Stars winner Richard Blais revealed his plans to bring his Flip Burger Boutique to Miami after finalizing his second Flip location in DC.G- Coconut Grove Grapevine offers a few images from the Cars and Cigars event that was held in the Grove on Father's Day.
The venue was perfect, the rain came right after the event, but all day it was sunny and bright. Hot dogs, hamburgers and refreshments were sold, or some people brought their own picnics as you can see below.H- South Florida Food and Wine tells us all about her eating and drinking tour of Little Havana during which she hits all the expected places.
I- The Reid Report dissects the latest poll that shows that Gimenez is out in front of Robaina.
If this plays out the way the poll suggests, Robaina won’t be the only loser. The black “preacherati” gambled big on this race — endorsing a right wing Republican, Rick Scott voter (and back-up dancer)/Jeb Bush guy over a former commissioner who voted against the hated Marlins stadium and who voted for Alex Sink. It seemed like a hugely counter-intuitive move to me, and it may be paying off big...for Carlos Gimenez.J- Radio or Not shares a pretty awesome video from the recent Netroots Nation conference.
K- M & M Liquors continues to impress with their marquee...at Eye on Miami.
