Your Evening Sift

Holy cow, the SoFla blogosphere was humming today. You're lucky you have someone like me to sort through it all. Enjoy your evening Sift.

A- I haven't had dinner yet so maybe that's why I wanna lead off tonight's Sift with a post [with pictures] about burgers from Brickell Life.
That's why this weekend, the Brickell Life crew decided to throw down an Iron Chef style Battle Burger. Basically, we were all just looking for some reason to drink some beers and wine by the pool and Biscayne Bay, and well, burgers just seem to fit the mid-summer vibe.
B- The State of Florida is being sued yet again thanks to another supposed unconstitutional law enacted by Rick Scott, says The Reid Report.
After being hit with two lawsuits last week (over drug testing of state employees and muzzling doctors on the issue of guns,) Florida Gov. Rick Scott will stick Florida taxpayers with yet another legal bill.

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence is suing over the law Scott signed last week barring doctors from discussing firearms with their patients.
C- Without comment, The Cuban Triangle posts a quote from a Cuban-American exile who claims that they are the "Real Cuba"...making everyone on the island posers?

D- Carlos Miller finds a film set in Fort Lauderdale where photographers are being kept at a distance and that, he says, is supposedly a violation of the Constitution.
We all know that public photography, especially for newsgathering purposes, is protected by the First Amendment, so it moots their argument that these photographers are guilty of trespassing.

“They’re rewriting the laws as they see fit,” said the photojournalist in an interview with Photography is Not a Crime this afternoon.
E- Beached Miami analyzes a recent Herald piece on Miami's "culture explosion" and seems to be saying that culture needs to be small scale to be authentic.

F- There's so much wrong with this Hialeah scene captured by Sweet Home Hialeah.

G- Boy Writes Miami takes a bad date to Gator Park.
We watched the alligator wrestling show where I kept fantasizing about her head being in the gator’s mouth.
H- FTL Collective shares a set of photos from Radioboxer's appearance at The Green Room.

I- Florida Stage has closed down, according to South Florida Theatre Scene.

J- Spokes 'n' Folks says the City of Miami has installed some new bicycle parking posts around town.
Here's one of the new bicycle parking racks being installed around town under a public health grant meant to encourage physical activity. This rack on SE 1st Street is conveniently near a store entrance, which will make it more useful than some others I saw today near Miami-Dade College's Wolfson Campus.
K- LeBron's new store is going to be in Aventura Mall, reports The305.Com.
According to Counterkicks the store will be part store and part art gallery at times for special events. The store will be a lifestyle-positioned shop stocked with books, art, footwear (including the entire Lebron line), and fashion brands including B.B.C. (Billionaire Boys Club), OriginalFake, A.P.C., Nike Sportwear, and multiple Japanese fashion brands. And you can expect various Unkwn original shirt designs and collaborations to be released, even more so if the Heat win the championship – they will be released in a timely manner via their website.
L- Bark Bark Woof Woof maintains that Congressman Anthony Weiner has everything it takes to be a loyal Republican.
So obviously Mr. Weiner's next step on the road to rehabilitation is to become a Republican. Given their record of forgiveness for folks with questionable judgment about sex, he'd fit right in. Hell, he could run for president in 2016.

Sarah Palin was right about Paul Revere! [if you read only part of the article I link to]

South Florida Theater Review also closed. Last month. Today's theatre closure news was brought to you by South Florida Theatre Scene.
Too many theaters closing, if you ask me.

I hate to say it, because I was a fan of The Review, but it'll be easier to keep it straight now that The Review is shut down.
