SFDB Post Of The Week

SFDB selects its Post of the Week by going back and reviewing all the Sifts that we've done over the past 7 days. We find the best post of the week and note the runners ups as we judge them to be.

It was an interesting week in the South Florida blogosphere. Beached Miami was named the Miami New Time Best Blog for 2011 and videos dominated many of the posts that made it into this week's final consideration for Post of the Week. Let's see how things sorted out.

Runners-Up:  It looks like Beached Miami is on to something as they posted their 3rd man-on-the-street video. This one was done at the Wynwood Art Walk and was just as entertaining as the others. Food for Thought provided us with his usual fine review of the latest Cobaya dining experience hosted by Area 31 Chef E. Michael Reidt. In The Public Wins One, Man or Maniac? did a nice job in covering the recent photography protest in Fort Lauderdale.

Winner:  As I noted in the intro, Beached Miami was named the Miami New Times' Best Blog for 2011. I first mentioned them in a Blog Share Day post on September 14, 2010, when they were briefly known as "Beached on Miami." The name soon changed but the guys behind the blog always remained kind of an enigma. That was until last week when they granted an interview to Miami Beach 411 and went public. Beached Miami Setting New Standard For Blogs In South Florida* did a great job capturing Jordan and Robby on film and gave us some background on the origins of Beached Miami and what their intentions are with the blog. The post did a solid job of allowing us to get to know the folks behind the Best Blog for 2011 and earns this week's SFDB Post of the Week recognition.

'Til next time, keep on blogging!

Thanks, Rick.

I really like these guys. I could relate to them in various ways.

I related to Jordan in how he is insistent on being a journalist, despite the current downfall of many journalistic opportunities.

He's doing what I did with PINAC. Making it happen with his own site.

And I related to Robby as a photographer and videographer with a sense of humor who is not afraid to get in people's faces.

What I like about these guys is that they don't view their blog as just a hobby outside of their real job. They view it as their real job.
