Sometime today I'll place a call to my 74-year-old father who is no doubt watching the U.S. Open between naps in his big, overstuffed lounger in Maryland, and we'll talk about stuff. I'm happy I got to see him last week in New England. As each year passes, the U.S. Army colonel that I grew up with seems to mellow and appreciate life a little more.
