I find it difficult to fathom how, in a single post, you can both criticize Fox News for being naive and disingenuous, and then turn around and make a straight-faced claim that the Tea Party is driven by racism. The racism issue is preposterous. The Tea Party is concerned with a budget that simply doesn't add up. Perhaps reasonable people can disagree about the efficacy of austerity measures on a large-government level versus a household pocketbook level. But, the fact that Tea Partiers wish to cut entitlement programs, i.e., reduce the debit side of our budget as a nation so that we stop mortgaging our future, has no basis in racism.
But, I suppose if you are writing to a one-sided liberal audience, no one will raise an eyebrow. They'll just nod and clap. Sounds a lot like a Glenn Beck audience, actually.
Dustin, the deficit went through the roof during the Bush administration thanks to profligate spending on two wars, tax cuts for the rich, and a Medicare drug program without any provision for paying for them, and what do the the teabaggers do? They just nod and clap. Then Barack Obama becomes president and suddenly we're in the Worst Recession Ever and the sky is falling. Coincidence?
Bobby, the Tea Party developers as a direct response to neo-cons like W Bush. So the tea partiers were decidedly at odds with Bush's fiscally irresponsible policies. Now Obama is acting even more irresponsibly. We are still in Iraq and Afghanistan, now we are in Libya, and with the way things are going I wouldnt be surprised to see us also jump into Syria. So with Bush, we just fought foolish wars and bailed out corporations. With Obama, we are fighting foolish wars, bailing out corporations AND expanding entitlement spending.
Care to respond to that? Perhaps you agree with his policies. I, along with the tea partiers, sure didnt agree with W's, despite your apparent belief to the contrary.
Dustin....not to repeat Bobby's point, but I will...you want us to believe that these Tea Party folks were "decidedly at odds" with Bush but said not a word for 8 years and voted for the guy [overwhelmingly, I might add] for a 2nd term. Wow, that's some anger there, Dustin.
No, I've seen enough of what goes on at Tea Party rallies to know that there is more than spending that is getting these people fired up.
The sad thing is that most of these folks lived through the 50's and 60's and should know a helluva a lot better.

OMG...has Fox turned over a new leaf?
Duh moment of the decade. But better yet, wanna 20% of the population will continue to express doubts? And that some of these will run for office?

What Rick said.
Oh, and when people's instant response is "we're not racists," Dr. Freud has your number.
Wait, the moon isn't made of cheese? Bummer.
