I wonder if this is Chief Exposito's fault, too...
With key witnesses becoming uncooperative, prosecutors on Friday dropped the murder case against one of two Miami man accused of fatally shooting a state corrections officer and her 2-year-old son.But I will guarantee you that if Demarcus gets shot next week by City of Miami police after brandishing a weapon, it will be Chief Exposito's fault and the news media and the blogs will all trumpet "Number 8!" in tandem while Demarcus' mom rushes to the TV cameras to tearfully claim how her son would never ever hurt anyone.
Demarcus Alexander, 20, had been charged with the Dec. 14 slaying of Ciara Lee, 24, and her 2-year-old son, Devin Franklin.
That night, a group of shooters unleashed a wave of gunfire into Lee’s Miami home, killing the mother and son and wounding a man inside. Homicide detectives have said the gunmen mistakenly believed someone they were chasing fled into the house.
“We’ve had no help from the community, and the witnesses we had suspiciously and suddenly became unavailable and uncooperative,” Miami Sgt. Eunice Cooper, of the homicide unit, said Friday after a court hearing.
It's all so effing predictable.

But yes, you're right...the "community" makes a lot of noise about stopping the violence, but they do very little to actually put an end to it.
Thanks. My error and subsequently fixed...I suppose it's a reflection in my mind of who I think most of the people doing the complaining are most concerned with.

I am horrified that this man should not stand trial, but I also feel for people who are scared of retaliation. It's a very fine line - you want the violence to end, you want to be a good citizen and testify - but what happens to you and your family in the lead up to trial, during trial and afterward. The police can't protect you, they don't have the funds or manpower to do so. What is the answer?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but do not go on bashing his parents for what has happened. He is their son and as a parent we stand by our child side for whatever harm has been made. I commend the Alexanders for being there for their son and going all the way. With that being said I support them and I agree with them and more than anything I stand beside Demarcus side to the fullest and to the end. My heart goes out to both families but I walk beside the Alexanders.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. Both families are dealing with hurt. It's not right to go after the Alexanders in this case. As Parents it's thier JOB to stand by Marcus.
MENACE TO SOCIETY!!! May you never have another day of peace for the rest of your short life. May you look over your shoulders for the rest of your short life. God will judge you so you better make peace with your maker. I pray you die a slow and painful death. You deserve nothing less. Smile on that!!!
God forgives everyone that ask for forgiveness, no matter what the case may be. You all can call DeMarcus what you want, at the end of the day he still is a child of GOD and he is still a man. Who are you to judge him as a menace to society? Like i said and I will keep saying I stand beside the Alexanders and I stand beside and walk along with DeMarcus at what ever he does. My heart goes out to both families for their loss, but my heart is with DeMarcus as well....always!
