The Sun Sentinel BOB Awards continue to collect nominations through April 3 [Sunday] @ 9 AM, so if you want to make sure your favorite South Florida blog is included, get over there and nominate them.
While the voting process remains flawed [as I've mentioned before] and the competition amounts to nothing more than a popularity contest in which the blog with the best social media network wins [along with the Sun Sentinel's statcounter] , I do like the fact that people taking the time to review the blogs will find that there's a lot of good ones out there that I don't cover here at SFDB. I was amazed when I started checking out some of the blogs that I had never heard of before. There's a lot of solid writing going on that you can bet I'm going to start following as a result of becoming aware of them through this contest.
I had a problem last year with some of the categories that certain blogs were placed in and this year that seems to be a little better although I have to mention that European Wax Center is a business blog, for gosh sakes, and should not be sitting in the Defies Categorization, Personal and Pop Culture categories. Jeez, I'm befuddled as to who could have ever nominated it for those categories.
So make sure you get your favorite blog(s) nominated. It will be fun and along the way you might just add another blog or two to your RSS reader or blogroll.

Rick, did you notice SFDB is in the humor category as well as Random Pixels? The whole category thing is effed up.
This just goes to show that no one at Sun Sentinel is really curating this process and that no one is really up to speed with local blogs. Why didn't they get a team of local blog people together for this?
And I hate to say that, because I know people who do social media over there and they are really fine folks. All this contest needs is a little tweaking with curating and it would be better.
Oh and yes... business blogs should be in their own category!

Maria....biz blogs do have their own category. European Wax Center is everywhere but.
I suppose every now and then both RP and I post something funny, i.e. the morning chuckle, but, yeah, overall I would say that I take things very seriously here. :)

We obviously have more work to do with categories as Maria mentioned, but I think Rick has the best feedback I've heard so far when he said that even he has already found blogs that he had never heard of before. I think voting lasted two weeks last year and now it's only one week.
That's good to know because it really starts getting old after the first week.
You're right, Carlos. That was one change we made. We've also made changes to the voting process so that there will be no ranking showing who is in the lead.

Do they have a Biggest Hipocrite category? Best comments written in at 2:00 in the morning? Maybe biggest terror supporter/apologist?
