Think about that figure for a minute.
Republican Rick Scott gave his campaign another $11.6 million in the final 12 days, bringing his total personal spending to more than $73 million and making this far and away the most expensive governor's race in history.Of course Scott is not alone in his massive spending.
Sink has proven to be the most successful fundraiser Florida Democrats have ever seen, though the $11.2 million she raised over the campaign is less than what Scott spent in the last 12 days. But with Sink at the top of the ticket, the state Democratic party had its best fundraising quarter ever, matching the $31.5 million raised by the Republican party.Homelessness.
Hunger.
Social services cutbacks.
Imagine the problems that could be addressed with the millions that are being spent to get millionaires elected to serve the interests of millionaires.
God Bless America.

Can someone explain to me why Rick Scott (or anyone else) would spend so many million of his personal money to get a job doing a public service to get paid a few hundred grand? Hmmmm..... Maybe they plan on getting more than their salary for these jobs.
Amen, Rick. Amen.
There has to be a better way.
The only thing that keeps me from really being upset about this is the fact that 'they're spending money.' In a down economy like this, that money is better off being spent by people who have it than those who don't.
And that money does go to a lot of the people who do need it. The prinitng companies and t-shirt companies all do a good share of business during election season. And they're companies with large number of jobs. Production companies, campaigns renting temp office space, most of those millions are spent in our local economies. I'd rather see Scott spend the $73 million (hope he loses) than keep it in his pocket.
And Allen, why would Scott spend so much? A: he has it, why not? B: He may have wealth, but now he wants power.
