SFDB's 3 Political Truths...

...that were revealed to me over my vacation.
  1. Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh are the Right's Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan, although Republicans are totally and utterly blind to this fact.

  2. No matter if you're a Democrat or a Republican, you can never, ever defend a racist who still believes that we need segregated school buses.

  3. White men can't jump and Little Limbaughs can't count.

Funny, the FBI's arrest of three corrupt DEMOCRATIC Broward politicians wasn't at all instructive?

The difference between Michael Moore and his right-wing counterparts is that he is funny on purpose. Whether or not he succeeds is another matter, but at least he makes the attempt.

What's the "lesson," KofC? That there are dirty Dems? Wow, now there's a shocker. Is that news to you?

How about giving me a link to a Republican health care plan like I requested yesterday. Surely you saw that post, didn't you?

One more thing, I mentioned the story in the Cooler today. Sorry I didn't put it in bold or put little asterisks by it.

Your blog's primary audience has proven inhospitable to conservative viewpoints, let alone in-depth analysis and debate. Its a fun blog for quick snipes from the left and right, but that's about it.

Michael over at discourse.net attracts a better-behaved crowd, and fosters (marginally) civil debate.

In other words, there are indeed conservative plans to fix health care, but I (and apparently others) don't feel its worthwhile attempting to pursue a rational debate on this forum. Sorry, but we reap what we sow.

I'm perfectly happy to snipe away though, but thanks for the offer.

KoC,

Swiping at SFDB's audience...are you serious? Go back and read anything I've ever written to you. Or read Alex's comments. Or M-Bobby pushing back at Rick.

This, this right here is the problem with you and colonic and babalu and large swaths of the right. It comes down to two words, unsubstantiated commentary.

You say things that cannot be backed up. So I'll say what I always say, sounding smart isn't the same as being smart. I'd encourage you to not fall in love with the way your words sound when you put them together. Other people are actually listening and hear them for what they are...vacuous.

How 'bout a quick link, KofC? Surely, the Republicans have a plan that you can link to, right? No debate, no in-depth analysis...just a link to a plan that Republicans have that counters Obama's. Surely there is one that you have been referencing...

Of course, KoC ignores the fact that the story IS in the news, and in no small way.

If the fact that they are Democrats is discovered to factor into their crimes, I'm sure that will be in the news, too.

You caught me. I was trying to be polite to the host and not blame him for my complete disinterest in engaging in debate on this blog. Yes, some of the audience has supported views diverse from Rick's. Others have not, and in my view Rick included.

There are only so many hours in a day, and the bottom line is that when I do have time to mix things up, there are more hospitable environments. My goal is, of course, to make others think, but also to be caused to think and look at things differently. That's hard to do when the host isn't of like mind. Its nothing personal, I just like discourse.net better if I'm going to take the time to debate with progressives.

KofC: Maybe I'm not being clear here. I'm not asking anyone to debate anything here. I would just like to throw up a link on the post that readers could refer to when comparing the Dems plan to the Repubs plan.

That's it. You don't have to share any bits of your wisdom with this crowd...just a link.

The babalu crowd has fallen mute, as is usually their M.O. when they're challenged for information, so I was holding out that maybe Florida Green Lizard, or whatever he calls himself, or you might be able to provide a link to what the Republicans want to do to improve America's health care system.

Why is this a lot like pulling teeth?
