It's hard for me to start my day without my cup of coffee. The smell, the taste, the caffeine...it all gets me set for the day ahead, if not physically then psychologically.Since today is National Coffee Day, the logical Question of the Day is...
Why do you like coffee so much?

I don't need a twelve-step program for it. Yet. (I say this as I take the lid off cup #3.)
Because Red Bull really does taste like crap...
Because when I drink it, the headaches stay away...
3 responses? Either people though this was a trick question or SFDB readers don't like coffee, I guess.

"'sadness' is just a word that means 'not enough coffee." Wally, from Dilbert.
Why wouldn't I like it? I buy fresh roasted beans, and grind them fresh for each pot. Mmmmmm-MM. My mind clears with each sip, my skin tingles with delight. I love my cuppa. Coffee makes life great.
Because it tastes great with milk and sugar.
I love it for the cinammony aroma, and the energy. I love how when I take that very first sip in the morning, I can truly believe, even if for just a fleeting moment, that it might be a fabulous day. It's like waking up really early and looking out the window and seeing the sort of freshly fallen snow that makes a dirty town beautiful again, at least until the rest of the world wakes up and turns it into a giant slush pile. Coffee: It's the snow before the slushpile, and believing at least for a few minutes each day, that anything is possible.
At two buck a brick, La Llave brand and my ancient krupps espresso maker go a long way in satisfaction. People say I make the best in town. Never too busy to have a shot of swampesito.
