It's the weekend, everyone. Let's get it off to a rip-roaring start with a packed and plentiful Friday evening Sift! Cheers!
A- 26th Parallel reminds us that the groundbreaking for the new Marlins stadium is tomorrow and that opponents are grasping at straws to make the project look foolish.
B- Miami-Dade Dems has the latest video from the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee that gives Charlie Crist some national face time.
C- The Marlins-Phillies series didn't exactly pack the fans in as the Herald predicted. Random Pixels is sure that is all going to change when fans have to drive to Little Havana and sit in a brand spanking new stadium.
D- Miami Metblog has some comments and links on the multi-million dollar Miami Beach castle/house that burned today.
This castle was not far from my house, and whether it was driving to get out of the Beach, or (especially) riding my bike, I would take a moment, whenever I could, to stop by and marvel at this utterly bizarre gem and wish I could go inside. This place should not have been left unused; this place should have been rented out for events, films, videos. This amazing strangeness should have been an attraction in Miami Beach. Frankly, this place should have been the site for many roleplaying game conventions. Can you think of anything more fitting than playing Dungeons & Dragons here?E- Road photos from Some Cranky Guy.
F- Spokes 'n' Folks gives us an update on the Overseas Heritage [Bike] Trail in the Keys.
G- Sweat Records joins a couple other bloggers in urging folks to write their Miami-Dade County Commissioner because of proposed cuts to the county's cultural programs.
H- Southern District of Florida Blog has a list of the U.S. Attorney finalists.
I- Coconut Grove Grapevine shares some images from Alladin's Grill in the Grove. Think belly dancers.
J- All Purpose Dark describes the scene at Inca's 2010 Cruise Collection at the W Hotel last night.
Let's itemize what we learned last night:K- Eye on Miami posts charts showing the stunning salaries of some City of Miami employees which sparks some extensive commenting. But, more importantly, make sure you don't miss EoM's fishing story.
1) It does not cool down at night. No, the temp hovers statically at around 90 degrees, even at 11pm which is when the show finally started (after the Grey Goose open bar shut down and a thousand hot, sweaty fashionistas nearly rioted).

A: with 4.2 billion straws to grasp, I'm pretty sure at the end of the day the supporters of that white elephant will be the only ones looking foolish.
