Good morning.
There's some good, quality posting out there for you this morning, folks. Enjoy your lazy Sunday morning Sift.
A- Some Cranky Guy and the wife take a road trip up to Lake Placid and take the camera with them.
B- Holy Crap acquaints us with Firehouse Subs.
The key to one of their subs is that to heat them, they steam the meat and cheese. Unlike a microwave, this adds moisture to the meat and cheese giving them this juicy sensation when you bite on one of the subs. It’s similar to Quiznos boiling the meat but it comes out different because you don’t get other flavors from other meats and you really can’t boil cheese and have it come out well. I like both ways, but there is something very different between the two methods and the final product.C- Eye on Miami offers up another round of Miami Herald criticism.
D- Restaurant Gal pays tribute to her good cat.
“Good cat,” said the vet on a sad day that quietly represented the end of an era for my family. “Good cat.”E- Club Deuce reminisces on their 14 years at the same bar.
There’s something magnetic in that space. And people either get it or they don’t. So many times, I’ve seen people come in and look around, and turn out, and other times, people come through the door, stop for a minute to let their eyes adjust to the dark bar, inhale deeply and relax. They get it; they belly up to the bar. They’ve found their spot.F- Miami Beach 411 gives guys some hints on how to get in to SoBe clubs.
The juke box - Johnno & Mark Fisher schooled me on the oldies, especially the oldies, Roger Miller, anyone?, the clanking of the pool balls, the arguing, the slurring, the laughter, the conversations became my music, became the rhythm of my deuce life.
14 years on 14th street.
Good times.
The beautiful people make up a small percentage of club goers. If South Beach nightclubs relied only on those people coming, they wouldn’t stay in business- although there are certain exclusive events that the average person may not get into. Show up looking like you put in some effort, respect the doorman, and chances are you will get in. Trust me, I have seen crowds of people in line at Mansion and Rockbar, and they were just regular people. If you’re dressed the part, ordered bottle service, used a promoter, or have a flock of gorgeous girls with you, chances are, you’re going to have a great night drinking and dancing at Miami’s hottest clubs!
