Good morning.
Happy Miserable Monday. Time to get another week started with a fresh and clean morning Sift.
A- Even if you're not a pie fan, I'm betting you'll enjoy Miami Dish's wonderfully photographed post on yesterday's pie contest in the Grove. Mango&Lime also weighs in.
B- Make plans to ride the M-Path with Miami Bike Scene.
C- The Burger Beast has mixed feelings about Cine-It Burger & Grill on South Dixie in Pinecrest.
To share, we ordered some Chili, 2 Pups, and an order of Family Fries with 4 dipping sauces (nacho cheese, chipotle bbq, chili and mustard curry). Ericka and DietColalola felt the Sliders (which are served with Hawaiian rolls) were ok and that the regular sized burgers were much better. We all felt the Chili was definitely from a can, more than likely Hormel.D- Incertus runs down the reactions to the murder of Dr. Tiller from the right-wing blogosphere.
And I have to say that I'm glad most proved themselves to be at least marginally human about this murder. I have to emphasize the marginally, though, because while many of those who condemned the murder also went out of their way to make sure everyone knew they thought Dr. Tiller was a mass murderer as well. Others framed it through the lens of "how will this harm our movement" instead of just condemning the violence. And others, as you saw, were practically gleeful about it.E- Bark Bark Woof Woof reminds us what day it is today.
F- Reidblog has information about Dr. Tiller's killer including the fact that he had a Christian fish symbol on the rear of his car.

A - wow, something goes on in teh Grove and Grapevine doesnt report on it? Imagine that...
C - we are all going to be paying for these guys healthcare someday...haha
I can't believe Coconut Grove Grapevine got scooped in his own backyard.
By two blogs!
D - for people who think abortion is murder: if you really believe this, wouldn't you be justified in putting an end to this? I know if there was a guy killing infants on a daily basis in my town, I would do what I could to stop this person, regardless of the law.
I mean, if you really believe abortion doctors are committing hundreds of murders, why even care for the law on the matter?
Keyrat: It's called the rule of law, and it's sort of a necessary nuisance to maintaining civilization. You don't just grab a rope or a gallon of gas to achieve justice, cowboy.
Yea, well if for any reason I knew of a guy blatantly murdering people on my block, and the whole town knew but the law wouldn't go after him, I might feel a moral obligation to do something.
I'm just pointing out that this is the obvious conclusion to anyone who believes abortion to be murder.
I'm sure glad vegetarians don't feel the same way about people who eat meat.

Speaking of veterinarians, when does the SFDB Hurricane Blog Pool open?
My knee is acting up and its giving me a hunch...
Thing is, keyrat, what Dr. Tiller was doing wasn't against the law. What we have here is a case of a person who decided he didn't like the law, but instead of working to change the law and accepting what the law currently is, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Besides, logic and the anti-abortion position don't really match up. If it did, more anti-abortion groups would call for murder charges against mothers who get abortions and not just the doctors who perform them. Anti-abortion people view mothers as either victims or crime scenes, when logically, a woman who requests an abortion is a murderer--if you posit that abortion is murder.
Nonee: There is no SFDB Hurricane Pool, sorry to say. That was one thing that stayed at SotP.

Booo! THe Hurricane Pool was a great feature.
