It was a rather light day of blogging for what is usually one of the busier blogging days of the week. But, lucky for you, there was still plenty of highlights to fatten up your Hump Day evening Sift.
A- Ipanemic turned the Big Four Oh today, out on the road, somewhere in Mississippi.
Last night, as I drove along the dark and hilly road that is Hwy 84, I reflected briefly on my life over the past forty years. It’s been nice, I suppose. I don’t really have any regrets. I do hate that I wasted my twenties married to that woman. But apart from that, it’s been okay. A childhood in the desert, traveling around the world, private schools, college, the birth of not one but two beautiful, brilliant, well-adjusted boys, a good family, good friends. I hit a marked level of success in the corporate world, up until I lost interest in it.B- Blind Mind makes a case for why he is a crappy blogger [his words, not mine].
My blog really has no rhyme or reason to it, it just merely exists. Even the name of this blog makes no sense. I just had it as my username (which came about from a line in a Blind Melon song and my occasional lack of a "brain editing room") so thats what I thought to name it because in the beginning I had no idea really what blogging was or what I was gonna do. I guess I just wanted an outlet for creativity. This is a place where I can bitch about stuff that annoys me, where I can clear my head when it is overflowing with thought, where I can post about things that I find to be pretty cool with the hopes that others enjoy as well, where I can write about a recent meal with the hopes that it helps a business owner capture more customers.C- Miami Beach 411's Miami Tour Company has been recognized as the 3rd most popular attraction in Miami by TripAdvisor.
Some of you might ask, why is a tour company listed as an attraction? Well, I can assure you, our narrated tour around Miami and Miami Beach is very special. I don’t claim that we’re better than Disneyland, but that is what we aim for.D- The Burger Beast tests the food at Sports Grill on Sunset Drive and says it's good.
If there's one reason alone to eat at Sports Grill, it's their wings. When I first got into eating chicken wings, Hooters was my main stop but once I tasted a Special Grilled wing at Sports Grill I was hooked.E- Last night's Tech Tuesday meeting at ECCO Pizzatecca was geekalicious [my word, not his], according to Holy Crap.
The highlight of the night for me was meeting the man that created Dell’s Inspiron line of laptops, Patrick Cooper of Fast Planet, and finally meeting Brian Breslin, who by the way, won a Domino’s gift card. His luck in winning drawings is scary. Hey Brian, time to start playing the lotto! Myself and Pavan Bayyapureddi from Iblesoft geeked out with Patrick about our first computers, getting the first mouse, GUI, and other really geeky stuff. Tons of fun there. I actually felt really out of place when they were talking about getting their first mouse in ‘83. Hell I wasn’t even born then!F- The South Florida Traveler previews Mercadito Midtown.
Coming soon (ok it’s not scheduled to open until Winter 2009) to Midtown Miami is Mercadito Midtown. With 3 successful locations already in New York, 1 coming to Chicago and this own in Midtown, it looks like we could have some delicious Mexican food coming our way. It will be a mixture of native cuisine with a modern flair focusing on fresh ingredients. Some highlights on the menu include guacamole. Not just the traditional version, but a mango guacamole with jicama and chipotle gets my mouth watering.G- First it was Mark Foley. Now Fox News has repeated their "mistake" and labeled Gov. Mark Sanford a Democrat, according to Reidblog.
