Your Evening Sift

Internet outages and a power outage here at my hotel have made this Sift particularly challenging to put together. But here it is, your persistent evening Sift...

A- Spokes 'n' Folks has the 411 on the upcoming Bike Miami Rides which is what Bike Miami Days turns into when the weather gets hot.
The first will be held on Sunday, June 21. It's to be a 10-mile ride from Bayfront Park into Little Havana, with stops at city parks along the way. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Tina Hills Pavilion and plan on getting back about noon. Streets will NOT be closed.
B- Bark Bark Woof Woof and Incertus opine on the latest Republican Hissy Fit of the Day. From the former...
President Obama told a French TV station that the United States could be considered one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.

The point he was making was that since there are a lot of different faiths and practices here in the US, we Americans need to open ourselves up to understanding other countries.

Cue the wingnuts.
C- Ipanemic's photos taken during his return scooter trip across the U.S. will be posted in his gallery called "American Gothic."

D- A cousin smuggles in a Burger King Whopper from Nicaragua which gives The Burger Beast an opportunity to compare it to an American Whopper...taste and all.
They look very similar. She brought me the Whopper with no lettuce, tomato or onion so it would travel better which is why I ordered it the same way with both ketchup and mayo. Ericka who is witness to this, tried both Whoppers alongside me. No, this was not some Kool-aid suicide pact although I could pass for the Kool Aid Man. Both Whoppers tasted similar, but the difference was the Nicaraguan Whopper did not have the broiled flavor Burger King burgers are known for. It did honestly take us a few bites each to figure this out as we couldn't grasp what the difference was. Once we realized we were not gonna have anymore I opened the halves and realized what a difference in size there really is.
E- The South Beach Local bus might be one of the best deals in SoFla mass transit, according to Random Pixels.

F- Brickell Life explains what one Miami high-rise developer is doing to strengthen his building against hurricanes.
Slated for delivery in the first quarter of 2010, the building is leading the way in hurricane construction with a glass curtain wall system fashioned entirely out of large missile impact resistant glass that withstood wind loads of up to 327 mph during lab testing. To put this strength into perspective, Hurricane Andrew made landfall in South Florida in 1992 as a Category 5 hurricane with sustained surface wind speeds of 165 mph.
G- South Florida Theatre Scene has the entire 2009-2010 South Florida theater schedule posted.

H- Miami Beach 411's bus trips to Orlando include breakfast and free wifi!
Customers often tell us our $35 bus ride to Orlando is a great deal, but we want to let you know, it just got a whole lot better! Starting June 10th, we are offering free continental breakfast to our passengers, including orange juice, muffins, coffee and tea. On the return trip from Orlando to Miami, customers receive free snacks and candy.

Another new feature to make your trip more enjoyable is free Wi-Fi onboard.

E - One of the few places Miami-Dade Transit actually works. The City of Miami Beach botched the Electrowave system, and MDT stepped in with standard diesel buses, though not as environmentally friendly, run faster and are more reliable. Now, when I'm Beachside, I have no issues walking from Lincoln Road to South Pointe. It's actually kinda fun. But this time of year? Not really unless it's specifically for exercise purposes. I'm not gonna show up to a shoot, lunch, or a meeting sweating like a Frenchman. "Quarter Bus" it is!

And here I thought you were about helping people...I figured, since you're spamming, I mean advertising, a service, that your readers might want to know the same service is available for cheaper, given this tough economy. I see I was wrong. Let your readers spend more 'cuz you're in tight with MB411 and they link back to you. :D

Suzy: I really don't feel like I want to get in a back and forth with you. It's pretty simple: No spam on SFDB. From anyone. The fact that Gus is a friend has nothing to do with my blog commenting policy. I can't help that you believe otherwise.

Have a great day.

Objectivity? No, of course not. It is after all your blog- who cares if the information is not useful or truthful. You say that it is so it must be. Palabra de Dios! :D

oops, this is Suzy- in case you had a doubt. :D
