SFDB Question of the Day

The Florida Turnpike is dropping Starbucks and will be serving Dunkin Donuts coffee under a new contract. The Sun-Sentinel is running a poll and so far most people who are voting seem to be happy with the change. How about you...
Are you happy with the Turnpike's decision to replace Starbucks with Dunkin Donuts coffee?

Works for me. Starbucks beans are over-roasted and leaves a hint of charcoal in the taste. Dunkin' Donuts serves up a swell cuppa joe, and they're not all pretentious about the sizes.

Yes. Though I dont drink coffee, I dont like Starbucks and DD has way better food.

No; Starbucks at least makes a gesture towards better food, and the coffee is much better. Not great, but much better.

In any case, this isn't the Turnpike Authority making a change, it's the new concession leaseholder, presumably to make more money. As this decision was driven only by a desire to maximize revenue, I expect to pay more for less on the Turnpike. O joy.

I like it this way more, honestly. I gave up on Starbucks a few months ago.

Remember those DD commercials claiming a national poll showed they had significantly better coffee? Well, the truth is, they do, and I don't care about Starbuck's specialty coffees or $6 sandwiches, or other overpriced foods I don't need.

I find myself drinking DD coffee, which is relatively affordable, much more than I ever drank Starbucks- and I like my donuts for a dollar.

I vote Starbucks.
No more driving the Turnpike for me!

I was sad to hear this news yesterday. I don't drink much coffee, but when I do, I usually take decaf for health reasons, and DD just doesn't do a lot of decaf drinks.

Will the reststops also be dropping all their Legal, American worker's like they did at all the rest stops in New Jersey??

I usually hop off the Turnpike if I need something, so it doesn't really affect me. If I'm buying coffee on the Turnpike, I'm desperate and I only care that it's not decaf.

Each and every one of those workers in New Jersey were paid for with good American dollars earned the old-fashioned way; trafficking in drugs and broads.

If youse have problem wit dat, Joe and Vinny will discuss it wit youse in the alley out back.

I like Dunkin coffee better. Starbucks is too designer and too bitter for my taste. Because of the variety, the line was always too long at the rest stops, and quick service is what you wanted. Although I will miss their scones and coffee cake. The donuts at Dunkin I can do without.
