SFDB selects its Post of the Week by going back and reviewing all the Sifts that we've done over the past 7 days. We find the best post of the week and note the runners ups as we judge them to be.
You know, I didn't have a lot of finalists to rank this week, but they were all solid posts. When it came down to it, the best was the freshest...here we go.
Winner: Restaurant Gal has, admittedly, gone through a dry spell here at SFDB. RG has been active and posting like always, but the posts have been more journaling, in my opinion, than blogging and, as such, one of my biases is that I'm not that into journaling and the chronicling of daily life, per se. But sometimes journaling is good and this morning Restaurant Gal shared the story of losing her cat of 18 years that I think many of us can identify and sympathize with. It's a good story because through it, the reader can clearly see just how much a part of the family Koko was and how much he had experienced over the years with RG's family. The tale ends as expected but by then we all are convinced that Koko was, indeed, a "good cat" who lived a full life and graced those of his family. "Good Cat" is a great, well-written post that richly deserves this week's SFDB Post of the Week.
Runners-Up: Vivir el Presente's explanation about what she loved about South Florida's summers titled, "And The Living Is Easy...," almost made me appreciate what we get for weather and living here May through November. The key word there is "almost." The 1st Miami Bike Summit got good coverage in the blogs, but I found Miami Bike Scene's effort to be the best. And finally, Random Pixels' questioning of the community's and media's response to the capture of a suspect in the recent cat killings was very articulate and very well deserved, I might add.
'Til next time, people, keep on blogging!

Thanks. I was surprised, to say the least, that I was your post of the week. Cheers to Koko, the best fat cat, ever.
