Your Evening Sift

Well, the Memorial Day Weekend has officially started. The Weekend Widget is up at the top of the right sidebar for your reference throughout the weekend. We'll update it if we see anything new or exciting being mentioned by South Florida bloggers. So here it is, your Friday evening Sift...

A- Jeff Eats unveils his list of the 9 Best Coal Oven Pizza Joints in South Florida and Anthony's isn't one of them.

B- President Obama makes a statement that Justice Building Blog takes issue with and I can't say I disagree.
If the President of the United States announces the beginning of a procedure sure to end with a "trial and conviction" is there any hope this guy gets a fair trial?
C- Shorter 26th Parallel...
Yo, Ana Menendez, call me!
D- What does $2,850/month get you at Bentley Bay in South Beach? Miami City Diggs has the answer.
Beautiful 1252 SQFT 2 Bedroom with 2 full bathrooms corner unit with spectacular bay and Miami views, bamboo floors, full size washer and dryer. Bentley Bay condos are located on West Avenue of the South Beach within walking distance to the ocean, marina, shops, restaurants and South Beach night clubs.
E- Homestead is getting fired up over the display of the Confederate Flag and Homestead is Home is following closely. Make sure you check the comments.
The Miami-Dade branch of the NAACP has set its sights on NASCAR, Homestead’s major national attraction, in its fight against the Confederate Flag. The civil rights organization will first reach out to officials with the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, seeking to enlist their help in efforts to ban the controversial symbol from city-sponsored events. If that does not work, however, NAACP officials say they will consider a boycott and protest march at the NASCAR events slated for Nov. 20-22 at the Homestead-Miami Motor Speedway.
F- Generation Miami wonders why it's so hard for some in the Cuban-American community to acknowledge that the Castro regime is not looked upon favorably by most of the world's population.
Now, I don’t question the motives of those who refuse to accept the significance of this amazing feat. I also understand why it is premature to wave a victory flag and declare “Mission Accomplished” while our brothers and sisters remain deprived of the most basic human rights. But recognizing where progress has been made is not only emotionally necessary, it is also strategically intelligent because by tracking our progress we can recalibrate our efforts and shift our strategies.
G- Shorter Southern District of Florida Blog...
Told ya so!
H- Reidblog gets hacked and has some suggestions for her fellow bloggers.
What an awful 24 hours. Yesterday, I discovered that the ReidBlog had been hacked by malware, which is really horrible because I don't really even know what that is ... in any event, the hack attack led to a cascade of horrors, up to and including being banned by Twitter, blacklisted by Google, and deleted from various progressive blog feeds (which of course, was what they had to do...)
I- Ipanemic has made it to LA. And he promptly spilled a sugared-filled latte onto his computer.
