The SoFla Blogosphere's National Enquirer

Recently, an outlandish story circulated amongst right-wing bloggers that Chrysler dealerships owned by Republicans were being targeted for closure by the Obama Administration.

Because they are nothing if not right-wing parrots, babalu posted the story on Tuesday with the ominous title "Economic Warfare."

Yesterday, we learned that the story was pure fiction.

In addition...
Silver explained, “It turns out that all car dealers are, in fact, overwhelmingly more likely to donate to Republicans than to Democrats — not just those who are having their doors closed.” In all, Silver found that “88 percent of the contributions from car dealers went to Republican candidates and just 12 percent to Democratic candidates,” while, the list of Chrysler dealerships being closed “gave 92 percent of their money to Republicans — not really a significant difference.”

False and misleading information tagged up with an attention-grabbing headline. It's the recipe the National Enquirer has been using for years.

I'm pretty sure that if Blablablu closed down tomorrow, no one would even notice, outside of their 10 loyal sycophants.

Question for Poodle Moneo: who was that guy that said "a lie repeated a thousand times becomes the truth"? I think you are very fond of making parallels between him and the "liberal" media.

Alex, I hate to admit it, but they are one of my favorite reads. You never know what lunacy they're going to post next. It's almost as if they are trying to be idiotic. Like it's part of the blog's schtick or something.

And don't even get me started about how they try to balance out their vulgarities and boorishness with references to crying, "shedding tears," and "not forgetting the Kleenex." Like they have prove that they're human or something.

It's the best soap opera in the blogosphere.

The story reeked from the moment it was leaked, and bore all the earmarks of a viral urban legend. What's scary, but unsurprising, is how enthusiastically so many people embraced it (and I imagine still do!).....it's evidence how desperately unhappy and afraid wingnuts are about the state of their base. But it's funny how they don't seem to grasp that the more idiotic tales like these they endorse, the more ignorant and desperate they appear.

Where's my tinfoil hat?

It's what they would do if they had the chance.

It sorta makes sense when you think about it.

Really? You need to explain that to me some day.
