SFDB's Connecting The Dots

Let's play....
Timothy McVeigh was a Republican.

Atlanta bomber Eric Rudolph was a conservative and a supporter of George W. Bush.

Jim Adkisson hated liberals and was a fan of Michael Savage and Sean Hannity.

Rush Limbaugh wants President Obama's policies to strengthen America to fail.

Do we really need more dots?

Why are you doing this?

Why do I post anything that I post, Ferfel?

To get hits?

Exactly! That's it! Gold star for you, missy!

OK - well. Knock yourself out then. Sometimes when people post things like this they are having a bad day and just need a hug. So - I thought ... well. I think you need one.

*Hug*

Please....not in front of everyone.

BTW, my day, although busy, is just plain wonderful. Some people I know might even call it "fab."

Cheers!

that's it Rick...you need a hug!

If FerfeLaBat didn't exist, someone would have to invent her! (sheesh)

Ferfelablat, Rick is just trying to keep his mind off the bumbling democrats and their AIG nightmare and Pelosi's airplane whines. Did you all see our dear president's photo op with leftist Brazilian president? Obama says he totally admires the Brazilian's president progresive policies. Yay!

I don't get it.

Let's create more separation and dislike for one another based on something as silly as a political affiliation!

We're right, you're wrong!

We're left, you're right!

I watch Jon Stewart, you watch Fox News!

When I hear the expression "connect the dots," I think of the Bhopal gas explosion.

Well Blind Mind I agree with you. Rick do you agree as well? Probably not. It is too much fun to try to get more mileage out the Rush thing. Funny when conservatives bring up the liberal nut jobs then the defense is oh those are just nuts and you can't use them as examples but when the liberals bring up truly mentally unhealthy people who do bad things and happen to think themselves conservatives then its connect the dots time. Sigh.

In retrospect, this post probably wasn't a good one. I forgot about the Bill Ayers' of the left who have also done the same thing as some of the guys named in the post. Both sides have their extremists, some just draw larger audiences on the radio, I suppose.

BM: While I strangely admire your ambivalence towards politics, we all have our passions. Some people, as I recall, can get pretty passionate about a $300 pair of loafers. And I have to say that I don't dislike people simply because of their political affiliation. Some of my closest friends are Republicans.

It's the nature of the beast in politics to debate and argue. That's the way it is, that's the way it always has been.

Rick - Look, you know Im a huge SFDB fan and I think youre a stand-up, first-rate kinda guy. Though Im not a fan myself, I understand anyone's passion towards politics. Posts like this though are bad politics and really have zero positive takeaways. I guess I just expect more "political sportsmanship".

The Dems won the election. Its over. The guy who won ran on a platform that ignored personal attacks on his character, a tactic heavily employed in the political realm for the past 8 years, and pressed on. He wanted voters to focus on what positive actions could come about with a different line of thinking in the White House. A focus on who he was for who he said he was, warts and all, rather than who the other guy wasnt or who that other guy said he was. That focus really struck a chord with people and got him the win. Thats why I liked him anyways.

Now it seems that the Democratic party is acting in the same fashion that they abhorred for years. Smug commentary like that seen on the Daily Show has taken forward thinking and focused it on the other guy's inadequacies. What good does it do pointing the finger at CNBC and Kramer? Absolutely none. In fact, anyone who listens to any media source and uses that to govern their decision making rather than doing their own in-depth research is deserving of whatever fate they receive. So why bring it up?

This post just reminded me of what I hate about politics. Why argue when its not necessary? Id say you want the hits or to antagonize the dufuses over at babalu, but I know you dont. The focus should be on moving forward. Anyone like Rush who wishes to continue to try and thwart forward thinking can and should be ignored and thats it.

BM. Word.

Rick. It takes a mighty tall man to admit he might have been wrong. That there is called using all the gears. I thank you.

Hi, I thought you'd like some more dots:
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53070
Or perhaps:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1712609/posts
And:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/887246/posts

You do a great job of covering South Florida. Please move your political posts to a different blog. The links I put above are just as silly as yours. As a political independent, I do not find your posts helpful to social discourse. Its a free press, do what you will. But it takes away from your otherwise good collection of South Florida news.

Rick said...

Anon: Appreciate the suggestions. Free Republic and World Net Daily? Impressive. Next time, try checking Michelle Malkin and Little Green Footballs, although you're probably well aware of them. Now, tell me, which blog should I move the posts to? You know, because I'm all about making my "politically independent" anonymous wingnut commenters happy.

Thanks, man. I need a laugh like this every day.

My question to you is this, based on the assumption that you respect, if not admire our new president: Would Obama approve of your "connect the dots" post as something positive and constructive for our country? Or does the post represent precisely the type of rhetoric and tribalism that you (presumably) voted for him to eliminate from government and political discourse?

I am not a "wingnut", I do not regularly visit those sites. I simply googled "Democrats pedophile" and viola, up pops others playing similar games of "connect the dots". Maybe you still don't see the point, but you seem intelligent enough that you should.

Of course, you are free to express yourself as you wish. My only request is that you start a new blog for your political views, and not intermingle your coverage of non-political South Florida stories and events.

And that said, in fairness to you I don't know what your precise views are. I don't know if I agree with you on some issues or not. I can only say your rhetorical style when discussing politics is highly divisive, to put it mildly.

Unlike you (presumably), I have friends who are Republicans as well as Democrats. In my mind we are all Americans, all brothers.

Your loyal reader,
Anon

Anon: You have a good point here. Maybe I should run all my posts through the White House before hitting "publish." Interesting suggestion.

And I want to thank you for giving me permission to post what I like here. I wish I could wave a magic wand and, viola, all my readers were as loyal and perceptive as you appear to be.

Peace out.

Hey, Anon, if what you read here isn't to your liking, why don't you start your own blog? It's free. Then you could post whatever you like from whatever sources you like, and then when someone else comes along and tells you what they should post, you can say, "Hey, it's my blog and I'll do what I like."

Just a thought.
