Your Morning Sift

Good morning.

And yes, it's the Day Before Friday. We're almost there. Grab some coffee, pull up a chair and follow along with me with this morning's Sift...

A- Sarah Palin sends [some of us] silent messages in her pictures, according to Sundries.
In that spirit, I have observed that Sarah Palin uses her hair down during speeches, which makes her still youthful features appear a little more severe. Almost counterintuitively though, the style flatters her more than the iconic "bun", which has increasingly been shunted aside since her roll-out in Dayton, Ohio. The "hair down" also offers an alternative to the constant short haircuts seen on other female politicians.

This is also why she uses her square librarian glasses (which at one point had been rumoured by HuffPo to be fake. No, she's worn glasses since her earliest childhood. In fact, so do Piper and Trig today, clearly inheriting those genes from their mother). Anything to detract from the fact that she is above-average looking woman in a field where homely women are legion.

[...]

Her posture is relaxed, her hands linked in that almost prayerful gesture she has during rallies, and her prominent jaw is jutting with determination at some far off goal in the distance.

Governor Palin is sending us all a message.

Received loud and clear, Sarah. Good luck.
B- Jaded in Paradise is looking for help with her insomnia.
Guys, do you bloggers, experience the same lack of sleep syndrome? If so, how often? How do you deal with the situation? Can we ever quiet our minds or is this some sort of writer’s curse?
C- I Shot The Chef whips up some fascinating tuile cookies.
I made several different shapes; long triangles that I shaped over a (washed) can, spirals that I shaped around a thin wooden spoon handle, spoons that I shaped on (obviously) spoons, and butterflies that I bent in half and set in a baking dish. I served them with home made raspberry and mango sorbets.
D- 305 went to the circus this past weekend and took her camera.
All I have to say is whoever choreographed the show and designed the costumes is awesome. It was pretty much 80s punk influenced, with a splash of glitter and glam. Loved it!
E- Shorter babalu...
Obama is going to have to own eight years of Republican mismanagement and fiscal irresponsibility if there is any inflation during his term.

Yes, just like Norma Desmond in Sunset Blvd: "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille..."

A: that's just funny bordering on creepy.

E: Wishful thinking. Normally that would work, because of the public's short memory. However, Bush screwed up so thoroughly that it'll be a long time before anybody with any credibility (that doesn't include you, Malkin) points a finger at Obama.

A - Sundries is definitely out there when it comes to her love for Sarah Palin. But, I gotta be honest, its very similar to the legions of Obama fanboys who worship him like the Messiah. Both take it to the extreme and its quite nauseating.

B - Have a glass of wine after 9pm. Or take a few aspirin before bed. That can help. I kinda suffer from insomnia but only in the sense that I cant sleep longer than 4 hours. After that Im awake and need to try to go back to sleep which usually results in waking up every 30-60 minutes and looking at the clock.

BM....It isn't similar at all to the attraction Obama has to some. Are they analyzing his hair, or his glasses or do they believe that he is sending them secret messages with the way he stands?

People like the President. I suppose it's going to take a while before some realize that's an okay thing to do.

E: Oh, and way to go against the curve asking for obstructionism Babalu... the big blog news of the day is the dwindling number of die-hard Republicans:

Even HotAir gets it. But no, not Babalu.

A- So, what color are Obama's eyes, anyway? I can't stop looking at his pecs...

Rick, you know why you like the President, I know why I like him. Statistically, BM is 100% correct, with no margin for error. I'm sure ObamaGirl digs his energy policy.

Yes, Rick. Liking the President is something that is normal for people to do. But there are lots who take it to the extreme. Like I said, I like the President and I voted for him. I dont think he can walk on water though, nor am I ready to crown him as great before he has a chance to do anything.

Right on, Nonee.
